I am sorry for the harsh words, but I honestly think this school is crazy and is ****** up for weightlisting myself and everyone else with these high stats. Its really rediculous. I got into Rice ID already and had no intention of coming here, especially when I got no scholarship money. W.E. Good to luck to others, and I probably should have seen this coming.

I share your pain. Posting for my friend who has also been waitlisted

1580 800s on EVERY SATIIs and MANY national math awards

so yeah..hoping its a mistake

lol i dont have awesome stats ( 1370 SAT ) but I honestly think Washu isn't to blame. Its the ivy league applocants who regard washu as a safety or as a 4th or a 5th choice which has led Washu to waitlist so many.

Wash. U. does waitlist lots of really qualified applicants who do not express interest, or who are not believed to be likely to attend. I do not think highly of this practice, and consider it lunacy to not accept the best possible candidates, and to practice "God" by gauging people's interest for them. But it's part of the business-colleges are concerned about yield, and Wash. U., like many others, practices strategic admissions. Understudies at US News are to blame....who would have thought that a 3rd rate business weekly would develop such a grip on higher education?

Someone's childs stats from another thread:
"1580, 800 MIIC/800 CHEM/760 ENG, National Merit Finalist. "

those are waitlist numbers? HAHAHAHAHA, come on!

Well like luckystar said, the chances of that 1580 SAT person you're talking about attending WUSTL is pretty low. Therefore WUSTL waitlists him. If that person expresses sincere interest, I'm sure he'll be able to get in.

I got in off the bat. I guess it pays to have good but not great stats. Sorry to those who got waitlisted though!

waitlisted too... P-I-S-S-E-D off sorta - but i totally expected it

dog87--if you had no intention of going to wash u then aren't they really smart in waitlisting you?

dog, learn how to spell "weightlisted"

i have fairly high stats and national awards and i didn't get waitlisted

when did you guys find out you were waitlisted? I haven't heard anything yet . . . could mean i'm rejected, dunno . . .

getrich- you go to wasU's website and then go to prospective students and then click on applicantions and then check your status
showstakovich: in dog's defense, maybe he's playing with words such as there's a lot of waitlisted applicants and therefore the waitlist letters are "weighty." In all else, it could be just a harmless spelling error induced by stress :)

hey how abt the decision to waitlist a 1370, 4.4 and top 5% IB student?

I am an international student, had an interview ( one of few) spoke to the college representative at a college fair as well as personally with the vice president of admission for an hour so is that not showing interest.

Furthermore i really doubt I would have passed Washu over a "better" school because face it with my stats thats the highest I ccan go.

Guys who don't posess REAL data stop hypothesizing possible reasons for why a person might have gotten waitlisted. I know i am venting frustration but one advice to acceptees stop giving reasons for other people's misfortunes instead of telling us what exactly was the reason that you got in. :)

and congrats !

Accepted students dont need to explain anything. They didnt choose to admit themselves. I think the Admissions officers did. So stop bashing/venting at a Wash U board or, at least, expect other people to come to WashU's defense. Given the waitlisting of all these incredible applicants, I doubt that any of us aceptees can pinpoint exactly why we got in.

By the way, sincere apologies for being waitlisted Nomad. I've been following your posts and have been thoroughly impressed by them all. Wish you luck at Wash U and elsewhere.

i'm so stupid, thanks bluedaisy, i totally forgot WashU's decisions came on the 15th, and btw for everyone else out there who got waitlisted, i got watlisted too, grr . . .

And Dog87, I also got into Rice ID and was waitlisted to WashU. Glad i'm not alone. :)

i don't see how they thought someone with my crap stats would have gone anywhere better (actually washu was the best school i applied to but not my first choice).

robertgregorydt hmm was that sarcastic? sorry its ahrd to catch sarcasm off this board. If no then thanks

The point of my post was to say that acceptees shouldnt not try toexplain other people's misfortunes if they can't explain thier own reason for getting in ( which is exactly what you said, no explnation needed)

no the compliment was completely sincere...I've seen your posts in other Threads since ive been a member and I wish you luck once again. It really sucks that great applicants like yourself and many others whom have posted here must go through the whole waitlist process.

as a student at washington university, i can tell you that this school is amazing first hand. stop being bitter, and move on. yeah you missed out on a killer 4 years, but there are other choices. and don't bash my school. i love wash u.

Bing04 I am glad you are here. There are reasons some people got in and others didn't. I am glad I got in because it is the first Acceptance or rejection I have gotten and not knowing was driving me crazy. They were creating a well rounded class and maybe someone that has exceptional stats doesn't have the EC's to fill out the class or soemthing like that.
