My D applied back in Oct and has not heard one word. She emailed them about a month ago and they said they had all her stuff and she should keep checking her status..Well nothing has changed. I dont understand what is taking so long.

When did UCF receive the last pieces of her application? They claim to have a 2-4 week turnaround so if she called a month ago and they told her they had everything your D should be hearing from them any day. Here’s what the Admissions web-page says:

“UCF operates on a rolling admission basis. Students are generally notified of their admission decision within two to four weeks after receipt of all supporting documentation. Students can also check their admission status online. If the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number the university is permitted to enroll, a waiting list will be established.”

They have had all of her stuff allegedly for over 2 months now (going on 3 actually)

In that case I’d be on the telephone today. It sounds like an administrative screw-up, which does happen from time to time at all colleges, and probably with more frequency at schools with large applicant pools and relatively smaller admissions staffs. I think you need to be pushing them a little more aggressively.

I don’t know her stats, but when we went to the Open House two years ago, they stressed that if they have everything and you hadn’t heard from them it’s because they couldn’t make a decision “in favor,” yet. For whatever reason … perhaps they need to see mid-term grades, or they’re waiting to see how much room they have. Usually, they did say it was for kids who were “on the bubble.” They stressed that if you “overpushed” you might push them into a denial. So, it’s a fine line you have to walk. If, however, you know the stats are great and you still haven’t heard, I might feel more inclined to react. If the stats are “so-so,” then there is a possibility that they don’t want to deny, but they need to see how other things shake out. They might be waiting for the 2/13 UF admits to come out. I know a lot of students, including my d, who will be making her decision after that. UCF at this point is behind UF because they don’t have the exact major she wants. So, if she gets into UF, she’ll probably turn down her scholarship at UCF and that opens up a spot. I know she has a lot of friends who’ve gotten into UCF waiting on the same announcement before they make final decisions. And, it’s not always UF that’s winning between the two.

Hey Zebes, did your D get into UF?

For all who got into UF and will attend there, please contact UCF ASAP and advise so it opens up some slots for those of us in “deferred” status who really want to attend UCF. And congrats!

My son got into UF. But for Summer B. That’s not a problem. We’ll be waiting to find out if he gets and invite to the Honors program, and gets admitted to that.

I’m pretty sure that if he does, he’ll choose UF. And once he does that, we’ll definitely notify UCF.

Yes, we will be notifiying UCF after she receives the written acceptance from UF. We want that letter before we start turning down universities and money. BTW, she just received money from UCF through their honors college; this is separate from the Pegasus award she received from the university. That was a surprise that we hadn’t expected. Too bad I can’t move the honors college to UF.

Happy for both of them and thanks
