this semester's grades

Please help me out. I have SAT 2290, ACT 34, SATII: 800mathii, 800physics, 800korean, 780chem. 5s on four APs from self-study. My school is no AP/IB. Good ECs.

My biggest worry is that I sucked, very badly, this semester. I had ranked top 1-2% up until the last semester. This semester, I was busy with college application and slacked schoolwork. Plus, some of my friends told me senior grades did not count, and I was stupid enough to belive it. I am getting ranked around 40% this semester! Will this be a huge problem? I am petrified that I might fail at all good schools b/o this semester's school report (mid-year report, you know). I am totally panicking.

Again, will this semester's grades break my admission? My intended major is chemistry.

a shameless bump…

Honestly, test scores are no match for a consistent record of strong performance.

Clearly, Penn wants to see a consistent effort/maintenance of grades through the end of senior year. You were foolish to believe that senior year grades don’t count, because they actually hold weight, as the transcript is the most important part of your app. Honestly, you dug a grave for yourself there.

Any other opinion?
