This time I screamed

D. is accepted to Princeton. We knew the letter might come today, but I had to take S. to a soccer game at noon. H was at work. D. wasn't nervous, because the Stanford letter had made her so happy. Just as S. and I pulled out of the driveway we saw the mailtruck. I said "Look, it's here, let's wait!". But S. has a fetish about being places on time, and he said "No, Mom, we have to go". So, since I am the mom of 2 kids, off we went. Got the call sitting in the bleachers. H. said, "It's a big envelope". This time I screamed.

D. is just so happy. And immediately went to her calendar to figure out how to go to all the admitted events and still perform in the school play. Thank you all so much for your support. If only I had known then what I know now. I hope to stick around and help other parents do it better than I did. Our good outcome was not because I did such a good job. But that's a story for another post. For now I just thank you all so much. You were all right about so many things.

Congratulations!

Great news, congrats!

Congratulations Alumother!

how does someone have a "fetish" for being on time?

congrates....

Happy news - congratulations!

I want to scream back: Hooray!!!! I am SO happy for your daughter. It hurts to get the rejections FIRST but oh, it feels so good right now, eh? I really thought at least one of these elite schools would come back with a yes, given her profile (never guaranteed but it seemed likely that one would) and wow, she got TWO! And isn't Princeton her first choice? Go celebrate you guys!!! My D liked Princeton, though not her first choice, and was waitlisted. The school had a lovely campus and lots of other great things about it!

I laughed when I read you heard it in the bleachers. The way my D's situation is going lately, I heard one acceptance on a train, one in an airport, one in a hospital, one in the dressing room at Urban Outfitters, LOL. I'll still take it.

WOW for your daughter! Glad you have a happy thread this time....she was due.

Susan

One big "Atta girl!" from the South Pacific...plus a wee tsk tsk about that doubt, aluminium. That doubt has gotta go!

Alumother, congrats to your d. She has two great choices, though I am pretty sure you have a definite preference. ;)

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alumother, I love these serial congratulations. Good news upon good news. For some reason, there aren't too many Princetonians on this board. It will be great to hear all about it. (And maybe someday I'll understand the eating club system.) Princeton and Stanford! Double Wow!

Many congratulations. I just found out that a friend's D got her admission letter today from Stanford, after waitlists or rejections from several other schools (and one admit). Stanford was the most selective school on her list so she wasn't expecting good news. Will this be a difficult decision?

Alumother, you are definitely a nominee for best performance in a drama series.... :D Congratulations to you and D again.

Congrats from me, too. Wow. What great choices!

Could you hear screaming from Texas? That was me. Congrats!

What great news!!!! I am not surprised at this wonderful outcome, based on all you have said about your daughter. Now she will have a decision to make :)

Your D must be an exceptional young lady and P and S could tell. Congratulations!

Congrats on all your daughter's acceptances. I would not have pulled out of the driveway!!!!!!! How could you do that????????? I was on the verge of driving around the neighborhood to track down my tardy mailman the day my S's Princeton acceptance arrived.

What a happy outcome! Congratulations!
