There is no black guy in there.

^ Probably because I’d bet a pretty penny that all of the kids on that list come from extremely wealthy backgrounds (upper-middle class at the very, very least). I doubt a single one on that list has parents who makes >$200,000 a year.

Don’t get me wrong - I’m sure those kids are very intelligent and hardworking. But I’m pretty sure they had the benefit of wealthy privilege and connections through their parents. There are plenty of kids I’m sure who are smart as them and would be willing to work as hard, but they live in an area where there are less opportunities and/or they have poorer parents with less connections than these kids.

It’s kinda sad, but that’s just the way the world works. I’m pretty sure there’s some boy in Africa who has the mental potential to do advanced calculus at age 4 or something as impressive as these kids, but he’s never gonna reach his potential.

this just occurred to me, but I feel sort of bad for the kids. winning a few competitions (and national ones at that) is complete awesomesauce, but at the extreme they’re all at, their lives don’t sound enjoyable at all. think about it, it seems like they don’t have anything important to them besides that stuff. seems a bit sad.

Well, it pretty sound like what they do before was like “ok I just doing this” but are they really enjoying it?
