This will probably be my LAST chance thread for Berkeley! So be kind and respond! (:

Berkeley releases results in 4 days. It's my top choice now and I'm getting really panicky and paranoid. I know I'm not a bad applicant; but what are the chances as an international? And considering the Berkeley's ranked 2nd in the world for engineering and technology. Also, I don't know if this means anything- but I had a likely letter (and acceptance to follow) from UCLA. (Even though my essays had the word "Berkeley" in them- TWICE!) Please honestly let me know what you think. Thanks so much in anticipation- and also, here's wishing the best to whoever is applying! Hope we get to be batchmates! (:

Amazing. I will be stunned if you don’t get in. Welcome to Cal :)!

getting into cal by engineering is really tough… and you’re also an international student… but you are amazing. I’m sure you’ll get into CAL.

it would be a crime if you’re not in

You are outstanding, the only thing is that I don’t know if we all know enough about international applications to be able to say you’re in for sure?

I had a suitemate who was a junior in EECS from Singapore, and he was quite something. The international students who make it tend to be on par with some of the very best Berkeley students.

Sorry, you don’t quite have the 2400 or the IMO status to get in. And that 780 for physics is going to hurt you. Only rank 1? At the very least you should be ranked .5

Hate to break it to you…

This is one of the best applications I’ve ever seen. I would be shocked if Berkeley didn’t accept you.

LOL.

I think you have just a good a chance as anyone. Good luck.

Chances of getting in are slim to none. Sorry bro.

haha i love this thread

LOL! thanks for the replies guys!

@Sqaudus: Damn! I should have worked hard enough!! Don’t worry, if I do get into Cal- my GPA’s gonna be 4i.
0.5! HAHAHA!

To everyone else: Thanks to everyone who replied! Guess I was just being too paranoid. But after a nice, happy rejection by MIT, I feel I can’t be too sure of anything. Though, if I DO get rejected after this thread, I’m gonna feel WAYY worse!! Haha! :)

Thanks and best of luck to you all- hope to meet you all in Cal! :)

Cheers,
A slightly-less panicky fish (tuna!)

That is a freaking FANTASTIC application!

lol 4i

hahahah

I think 4i^(1/2) would actually be competitive for hiring. pshhh 4i

Great chances. Especially with the economy right now. Berkeley is likely to accept more OOS and internationals right now, so I’d say you’re in.
REMEMBER that you are asking for other STUDENTS’ opinions on line though. Our opinions are not always indicative of admissions, so don’t take this as an early admissions decision. Wait for the official decision, rejoice when (in all likelihood) you are accepted; and if you’re rejected, just remember that it does not negatively reflect on you as a person. Admissions decisions can be somewhat random, and sometimes very qualified people are rejected for no apparent reason.
Good Luck, and I pray for good results for all of us.

Tuna:

You’re obsessing over this. How many more threads are you going to start to have other students tell you your chances of UCB? You already know you have a good shot at it. Just chill out a little and wait the 4 days or whatever until the real results come out.

This is a powerful application. But applying to UCB for EECS as an International student can be tricky.

Tell us your results in four days. :)

nevermind----
