This would make for an interesting college essay.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Maybe it was the time the taxi dumped him at the
Iraq-Kuwait border, leaving him alone in the middle of the desert. Or when he drew a crowd at a Baghdad food stand after using an Arabic phrase book to order. Or the moment a Kuwaiti cab driver almost punched him in the face when he balked at the $100 fare.

But at some point, Farris Hassan, a 16-year-old from Florida, realized that traveling to Iraq by himself was not the safest thing he could have done with his Christmas vacation.

Yeah, I read that story, real brave kid, I'll give him that. How the heck did he manage to pull it off though!? Man, if I was his parents, I'd be so angry at him, he wouldn't leave the house for a year.

yeah, he'll have a nice essay to write... but where were his parents? How did he manage it?

You know what's funny is how I was watching Faux news today, and his mom was just laughing about it. If the boy had been in a drive by or killed over a drug deal hehe, she'd sue someone. Yea it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. She shouldn't be taking it so lightly. That boy needs a spanking.

I 100% agree with you, he must have been at least a little bit high on something to go there, he's lucky to be alive, given that he's a full blooded American. I'm surprised he wasn't taken hostage by the insurgents.

Another good essay topic -

What my parents would to me if I pulled off something like that...
