My mother hasn't filed her taxes yet for this year. Do I need the tax information for this year or last year? My Grandpa is supposedly doing our taxes this year. He may take a while to complete them. I may end up doing it myself.

Put in estimates based on 2005 numbers. Then revise when 2006 taxes are done.

How does that work? If I input 2005's information, will it affect my EFC?

Your initial financial aid offer will be based on the EFC produced by the estimated figures you input to FAFSA. However no money will be paid out until the corrected numbers are entered. It is probably easier to have your financial aid package reduced than it is to get it increased (because funds may be used up). So if you know income is lower this year estimate the figures conservately and correct once taxes are filed.

Thank you guys for the help.

why 2005 numbers? the checks say how much your parents earned etc. the fingure will be pretty close leave the taxes and assets blank then fill them in once the taxes are done
