Penn State's 46 hour dance marathon begins tonight. For those of you who don't know what Thon is, it is the largest student run philanthropic organization in the country and benefits children suffering from childhood cancer. You may have seen students soliciting change at various street corners on certain weekends in the fall. The fund pays for what medical insurance doesnt cover, as well as other expenses the families might incur as their child is receiving treatment at Hershey Medical Center, such as housing, meals, gas and other things.

Last year the students of Penn Sate raised over 5.2 million dollars!
It is not to late to donate to this wonderful cause and you can do that online. If you do not have an association that you would like to have credited for your donation, feel free to credit it to Atlas which is the organization my son is a member of.

Can't believe it's finally here! We hosted a "canning" trip for our son last weekend (8 boys in the basement!) and donate to the fund each year.
I know that a few years ago, I wondered who those kids were standing in the streets collecting money in cans. Now I know! Many of these kids are from UP and give up their weekends to travel to more populated areas and stand in the cold to collect cash for children's cancer. And it all leads to this awesome 46 hour marathon. It's really a great cause. We should all be proud of and support these kids!! Go online and donate to support this wonderful cause!

I am so excited. I will most likely be a freshman at UP in the fall. My dad and I are going up tomorrrow morning to watch. We will be coming home on Sunday. My parents danced together in THON in 1985.

I was watching the live feed online and I was wondering who those people in the pink hats were. I thought that they were ATLAS Thon, but I wasn't sure. I know see that they are ATLAS.
