Thornton Music School Student Honored

It is not often that music students are honored for achievements beyond their music talents.

Each year Glamour Magazine names their top ten college women. In 2008 Glamour Magazine honored a music student from New Jersey, Pauline Yang, who is studying at the Univ. of Southern California Thornton School of Music.

Here are some highlights:
As a high school junior, Yang, an acccomplished pianist who soloed at Carnegie Hall at 11, decided to lead her school's model U.N. program. Later she interned for Senator Hillary Clinton and is an ambassador for Music in Me. It is a non-profit program that brings music to kids in the Middle East. Last summer she went to Taiwan to work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on using classical music to bridge cultural divides.
Miss Yang hopes to participate in the National Chopin Piano Competition in 2010.
