Those Accepted: Other's reactions?

I just was curious if anyone had a similar experience as far as reactions ...

Father: But it's so far away?
Grandfather: What, does she actually want to go there?
Kids at school: Cool. Where's that? Oh, I knew you'd get in wherever you want. You have good grades.
"Guidance" counselor: But of course I know you'd rather get a full ride to UNC.

Ahhhhh (scream) !!! The world is nuts!

lololol don't worry....it's interesting, everyone here in the bay area is like "Aaaaaaaah omg you got into stanford" and i'm like "yeah, wow, i'm in shock but i'm not screaming with joy yet"... (maybe i just haven't hit that stage?)

Father: OMG (he kinda expected it)
Mother: OMG (she was certain i'd get rejected)
Relatives: how the hell did you get into stanford?
Kids at School: Wow that's AWESOME!

My guidance counselor and one of my recommender's cried from happiness. My parents were really happy too. My friends were impressed but others seemed to think that Stanford was easy to get into. Nooo...

One girl annoyed me though. She got deferred from Harvard EA and was like "I should have applied to Stanford EA. [xraven] got in, I would be a shoo in."

Rarr.

^ direct her to the Wikki board.

Father: I knew you'd get in.
Older brother: I knew you'd get in.
Mother: OMG
Me: OMG
Friends: OMG (my friend that got in: OMG OMG!)

haven't talked to anyone else yet. just got the letter :)

Ha ha. I'm moving wherever you guys live. People seem to care. Xraven, tell your friend, well, nevermind. That's not appropriate to post.

dad: don't crash the car out of excitement!
mom: OMG (didn't think i'd get in)
older brother: I knew you'd get in
friends: crying jumping for joy probably more excited than me lol

Dad: Crying he was so excited, said he hasn't been this happy in four years
Mom: Excited, but saddened by the distance
Friends: so excited and supportive
Guidance Counselor: Congratulated me really blandly

But none of it even matters, because I'm so humbled, proud, happy, crying for joy - it's just awesome.

[teal to all of you] Congrats! I'm not crying tears of joy lol that would be exaggerated. but nevertheless, that's awesome

I didn't apply. Just reading posts and commenting

mom started crying; dad and grandparents spent an hour on the phone with me from india; i just stared in shock (still in shock, lol); teachers were like, "uh, well, i'm not surprised"; guidance counselor was like, "see, i told you--congrats!!"

parents were happy. Nothing to the degree of like...crying though...i think they were a lot less surprised than i was (phew!)...

mom immediately started calling relatives in china, though, haha

I got into MIT EA, but, uhh...

Mom was happy but not crazy-scream-cry ecstatic on the phone. My dad said, "good job, BUT NOW WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT MONEY BLA BLA DON'T GET YOUR HOPES UP WE MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD..." My friends were the happiest--scream, yaaay, jump up and down happy. I got lots of hugs and kisses at school the next day.

Teachers were pleased, but none thought it was THAT THAT THAT exciting, except for my AP Chem teacher, who is "still walking on cloud nine" to-day. My guidance counselor didn't think it was that special. The other random people I told (Neighbor walking dog, photographer taking club pictures this afternoon) weren't TOO terribly impressed.

I kind of wish the reaction was more jubiliant, but I still liked it. And I'm kind of glad it's calmed down now. So maybe it was juuuuust right.

xraven, that would make me so angry! Stanford is just as hard to get into, anyway. But that's a discussion for a different thread.

Most of my friends just were really happy about it. A couple flipped out and started hugging me, but not many. My parents were very pleased but contained; they gave the usual "we knew you could get it all along, and we're happy Stanford thought so too" answer.

Two of my best friends also got in, so the three of us are planning on having some sort of admit party over winter break.

mom: FREAKED out...crying, screaming, the whole bit
dad: cried and said congrats
brother: couldn't care less
teachers: oober excited
counselor: was almost mad...i think he hates me
kids at school: absolutely thrilled

but hey, it doesn't matter what everybody else thinks...I'M EXCITED!!!! WOOHOO!!! :)

mum: freaked out...claling the whole world and extended family
dad: CONGRATS wow!!!
sister: DAMNNNN Excited freaking out called all HER friends... called my friends coz i couldn't call all in one go! and jumping around iwth me saying " I WAS RIGHT I KNEW UD GET IN!!!"
me: completely freaked out. jumping screaming (got a sore throat the next day because of it).
friends and teachers: wow congrats... not unbelievably excited
But I did get a girl coming to my door saying "I want to meet the girl who got into Stanford." and flowers and cakes from neighbours.
Overall: I DONT CARE I GOT IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)!

My mom was screaming and freaking out. My dad was kinda like "good job", and he doesnt show much emotion. My brother said "how much is it?" My teachers and everyone at school were very ahppy for me. Overall, nothing negative =)

mom: But it's so far away!
dad: How will you pay for this?
friends: That's so cool!
relatives: Go there, but don't tell your parents we said this.
recommenders: WOW! I recommended you! Thank me!
teachers: That's nice.
girl who I bet $10 I'd get rejected: Pay up, darn it. I knew you'd get in.

Oh! I had bets too. Get this: I had to hug this guy who hates me and tell him I love him while wearing a purple bathrobe to school for an entire day. (Note: There was no rule I couldn't hide it under my coat.)

Haha i also had a bet. I have to go buy two of my friends lunch or dinner now.
