"GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!"

Haha, from your name it looks like you want to say go Air Force.

Has anyone who applied to NASS heard from USNA yet?

No, not yet. I cannot stand the wait. It's tearing me apart!

Gets the glue

nope. havent heard either . . .

what were some of the PSAT scores that you entered into the app?

69 Writing
56 Critical Reading
48 Math (eek)

wow
my math was that toooo!!!

Heres what i turned into them:

54 Critical Reading
48 Math (ahhhh)
58 Writing Skills

55 out of 419 (13%)

3.6 weighted gpa
3.5 unweighted gpa

Earned Varsity Letter for Track and Field

Nothing Spectacular, but I hope I can get in . . . I really Really want this, and well, frankly there are better candidates out there . . ..

Ill just have to wait and see

colby,

from what i've heard, you got it. no worries.

my GPA is around that as well.

my class rank (estimated) is 20 out of a class of 50. not bad.

i haven't been able to earn varsity letters through a comedy of errors...none of the errors were on my part, though. whatever. i'll figure something out.

good luck, guys

My stats were SAT 610 Math 610 Verbal and 580 Writing... That is waht I sent in.. I also am like 30 out of 615 in my class.. GPA 3.9 weighted... Earned a letter for Cross Country.. Is that good enough to get in?

psersonally, i think that's more than good enough...but i wouldn't know.

i got a 610 Writing, 610 Critical Reading, and a STELLAR SCORE of 530 on Math for the SAT...however, i'm holding back from sending the scores to Navy.

Should I send them in?

you really want to make at least 60 points higher on your math SAT to get at least NAPS appointment

I'm pretty sure the Academy wants at least 600 for an appointment, but the average is around 660-670. If you start now and really buckle down , you can get it up.

Thank you vcm2007, i really hope your right . . .

(does being from MD count against me at all? I know its a tad harder though isnt it?)

Maryland is a competitive area.

Well quick question... For instance, if I did keep that 1220 score and could not beat it(VERY unlikely) but hypothetically if I had a bunch of sports, Senior Class President, NASS, Eagle, and Boys State.. Plus a prinicpal nom... Would my chances be very good to get an appiontment? I'm basically asking how much do the standardized tests matter for NASS/NAPS

yea damnit, lol

Well, im still gonna try my hardest, and if i have to, apply next year, well i mean after i have a year in college

Standardized Tests (obviously) don't show hardly anything about the candidate except for two things: amount of applied knowledge and motivation (in the sense of how many times you take the tests). I'm pretty sure that in most circumstances, the evaluation of your test scores is very objective, essentially did you attain or get better than a certain score (in most cases, 600).

Oh wow that is really good news.. I hate the standardized tests I do so poorly on them and it doesnt reflect i bet alot of the candidates that apply...So for NASS what do they mainly look at it?

Because there isn't much to look at, they basically look at your GPA, class rank, and test scores.

At least that's what I think.
