Those Accepted to NASS

Lola heard from USNA today with acceptance for NASS! First Step down! GO NAVY!

MOM2LOLA2010-
Welcome to the long road! Best of luck to Lola and family!

Awesome! Looks like at least some letters are on their ways!

I got accepted to session two!!!!!!!! Yayyyy!!
I'm Lola... that's my dorky ( funny is what she calls it ) mother who responded up there.

Hey does anyone know if I can possibly get in chagned to session 1? I don't think I even put session two on there... but I'll even if it can't be changed, not passing this up!

Just got the letter today, was accepted March 15th.

Don't have my PSAT scores, but last year's SAT was 730/640 ReadingComp/Math, PSAT this year was significantly higher. 12th percentile in a class of 350ish. Going to the first session, looking forward to it.

Go Navy, beat Army!

Surprise, surprise. Dad just handed me envelope from USNA. Guess what it was. Yep, accepted to Week 1 NASS. Not sure if I'm going to go. I'd like to, but funds are limited. If I can get some sort of sponsorship or scholarship then I'll do it, but otherwise some other lucky guy or gal will get it.

Really this came out of left field. I'm planning on going to West Point of course (hence the name) but USNA is an option as far as I'm concerned. Definitely not ruling it out.

Good luck all who have also applied.

Well, you just make sure to shout "GO ARMY!" a lot. It will get you noticed! :D

Haha... good plan. Like wearing fur at an ELF meeting... :o

Or a Bush/Cheney hat through Logan airport in Boston two days after the election!

Ask me how I know! :D

At least at USNA you'll just get wild-manned. Do either of these other two options and you might just disappear! ;)

Haha. I'd like to see that!

I like it.

GlitterHairDye- If you call admissions, they should let you switch into 1st session. I was assigned 2nd session last year, but was told 1st and I called them and they told me I could choose whichever one I wanted. So just call them and you should be fine. Congrats!!

Navy_Hornet (my daughter for those who don't know) got her letter yesterday. I actually got it out of the mail and handed it to her when I picked her up from school. I was really tempted to open it, but didn't want the butt whoop'n that would have come later.

She got Session 1, which was the only one which would work out. She'll actually be missing the last three days of school, but hopefully can get all her teachers to move any finals back.

June is going to be really hectic. Fly to Maryland for Summer Seminar June 3rd. Fly back to Boise the end of the week for Girls State. Last day of Girls State jump in the car and make a speed run to Colorado Springs for AFA Summer Seminar.

My in-laws live in Monument, across from the Academy, so I think we'll just give her a break after the three weeks and let her hang out with her grand-parents and cousins for an extra week and pick her up around the Fourth of July.

I won't even go into what she's doing in July and August. We're really stoked about the two Summer Seminars. Now she can really compare the two Academies head to head.

cougar_62
your summer this year mirrors ours last year...with the exact same 3 events!!Hang in there for it all...you'll have one exhausted daughter when all is said and done, but one daughter with life experiences she'll have for the rest of her life. As hectic as it was, it was all worth it. Spoken by a mom of a young lady with a USNA appointment!

GO NAVY
BEAT ARMY
BEAT AIR FORCE

I've got NASS, week 1... then SLS week 2, then Boys' State, assuming that I do end up going to NASS, which I'm not sure about. Interestingly enough though, SLS is during my finals week, which means that NASS is the week BEFORE finals!!!! That's going to be stressful! But I'm sure it will all be worth it.

Cougar, if I remember correctly, your daughter is in Civil Air Patrol, correct? Is she doing any CAP special activities this summer? Those were what made my summer so busy last year. Great opportunities! Good luck, and congratulations on her selection to NASS and USAFA Summer Sci.

Cougar_62, when all is said and done this summer, it would be interesting to hear what your daughter thinks of both USNA/USAFA. Our daughter wrote a 9 page summary of her experiences comparing the schools. Obviously you can figure out her preference, but the WHY was fascinating. She wrote her 'report' as she called it, mostly for her own memories and so that everyone on earth ( we're a huge family with an even larger circle of friends) who would be asking her about her observations could simply read her report. Turns out she sent it to her BGO and unbeknownst to us at first, he forwarded it to the regional BGO who forwarded it to Admissions, who called her Summer Seminar Squad Leader in, who then contacted Janell to tell her how pleased USNA Admissions was by her report. Who would have thunk that?

So keep us in mind to learn of your amazing daughter's experiences this summer!

I got my acceptance letter yesterday! I will be attending session 2. Opening that envelope was quite a rush.

I just got mine changed, so I'm going session 1!

Hi Glitter, did you just call admissions to get your session changed? How did you get through the recorded messages to a real person?

I called like three times to figure it out, but on your acceptance letter there is a number. I called and the admissions person put me through to my regional director who asked my name and state and moved me. It was prety simple, but I called the regular office first and I had to listen to that recording like twenty times and could never get anywhere.
