fiterace87, NavyHornet is indeed in Civil Air Patrol. She passed up any National Activities this year (did powered flight last year) but is hoping to return to Regional Cadet Leadership School as staff. Peskemom, I like your daughters idea of writing up her experiences. Maybe I'll suggest NavyHornet do the same. She is leaning heavily towards Navy but it will be nice for her to get at least some experience to continue to weigh the alternative. Congrats hhsxc and Glitter!

I hope your daughter has an enlightening summer, Cougar. It's good to hear of her staff involvement in RCLS. I participated the Great Lakes Region school back in '03 and that was really a great opportunity.

so...is ANYONE going to session 3??

I was about to ask the same question...

i'm in session 3

that is GREAT to know, lmilew. so now the count is up to 3 for session 3.

RAH!

cougar....and anyone else who takes our suggestion to 'write up' your experiences this summer. Be sure to let us read them! Once you have them either contact me via personal message or post a link so we can see what your thoughts are, OK?? Thanks

i'm also in session 3.

so make that 4, vcm!

sweet! the count is slowly rising.

I'm in Session I.

I'm from Maryland, about ten minutes from Gate 1. Finals (for my school) end on 2 June, and SS starts on 3 June. It's gonna be a tough week!

There are some strange circumstances, however. The letter was postmarked on 14 April, but I didn't recieve it until 17 April. Why it took three days to travel 7 miles, we might never know. Anyway, the application said that all deposits and registration material had to be into the Academy by 15 April, no exceptions. Am I the only one that sees a problem?

skunk where in MD are u from?

what were your stats as well? I just got my rejection letter, and I would just out of curiousity wanna see some examples of acceptance.

Thanks soo much

Hey skunk103, I just received my NASS(Session 3) acceptance letter today aswell (April 17) and I have encountered the same problem as you, The letter says the due date is April 15. My Letter is postmarked April 12 and I live in tennessee so I guess that is reasonable en route time. USAFA's initiall SS due date was April 15 aswell but they extended theirs to April 28 due to some problems in sending out late acceptance letters. Perhaps USNA will due sorta the same thing.

Now another Dilema, I've been accepted to NASS, USAFA SS, USMA SLS, and Boys State. I'm deffinately going to USMA and Boys State. Now I just have to decide between NASS and USAFA SS. and I have one week to decide yikes! I think its been debated before on another thread on which Summer Seminar was better. does someone have this link handy? I couldn't find it through a search. or if past NASS people want to shed some light on the debate on here that would be great.

I live in Edgewater, so I'm not far at all from Pasadena.

I got a 2000 on the SAT. 750 V, 560 M, and 690 W. Quite low on the Math section, which I am really working to bring up. However, I have a 3.8 cumulative GPA, and I am taking 2 AP's this year and 4 next year. I am in the top 20% of my class, will have 4 years varsity wrestling, 3 years varsity soccer, as well as over 200 community service hours in the past two years. I have served as class president and vice-president and will serve in school government next year.

ColbyBuss, sorry to hear that you won't be there in June, but don't give up. Not making Summer Seminar isn't going to make or break you getting into the Academy. Plus, Maryland, especially Anne Arundel County, is a really competitive area. I'm surprised I got in!

Tn48th, my parents and I are planning on sending the forms in very soon, and just including a copy of the postage date, in case the Academy has any questions. Sound good?

Good luck everyone!

I got in but can't go!!!!
my mom wouldn't sign it! she made me apply and won't sign it!!
argh!!!!!!!!
the deadline was April 15th to send in your confirmation.
Is it that prestigious?! I though it was just some summer program!

Thanks Skunk103

This is just as said before, a bump-in-the-road, thats all. I am going to apply next year, and well, I am going to push myself in everyone form I can!

Im almost a Black belt in Taekwon-Do, recently started BSA back up from when I was younger, next year, Im going to be the Main anchor for our school announcements (viewed on Tv every morning), I have good grades, 3.6 weighted, top 14% of class (55 out of like 419), 2 ap's this year, 3 ap's next year

Its gonna be a long difficult road, but I plan on taking it as many times as need be!

Thanks for all encouragement I can get

Word just came down the parent network from USNA that the deadline has been extended two weeks from 15 APR to 29 APR.

Yay!

now I have about 2 wks to decide. NASS or USMA.
which is better?

I can't swim by the way. But i'm on a track team.

I still haven't received any sort of letter from USNA. I applied on 02 FEB and to this day, I haven't heard a single word. They said that applicants should hear no later than mid-April. I called yesterday and they told me that they sent out the letters on 12 APR and that I should be receiving mine soon. It's been 6 days so far. It doesn't take that long. Anyone getting the same thing from them or anyone know what's going on?

My daughters and a friend that applied both got their acceptance letters yesterday(17th). She applied about mid feb I think. We called about the 15th April deadline and they said to ignore that as it was a mistake - just to send in forms as soon as possible.

usnso
i haven't recieved anything either, and i applied feb 4, but i called yesterday and they said it could take 7 to 10 days since they've been sent out on april 12th
