Those accepted to PLME, what did you choose

You know how on the Brown supplement, it says omething along the lines of, “if you are not accepted into the Program in Liberal Medical Education, do you still wished to be considered for admissions into Brown Unviersity’s regular undergraduate class…”

What did those of you accepted into PLME choose? I’m just curious.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that option was only for ED applicants.

Yeah, that’s only for ED, since it’s binding. I personally chose to be considered even if I wasn’t accepted to PLME, since Brown was my first choice school with or without PLME.

Will the admission decisions for PLME (RD) come out the same day as the RD non PLME?

Yes, it will. My letter said something like “Congratulations on your acceptance to Brown. Congrats also on your acceptance to PLME.” Was probably a bit more formal than that, but it’s the basic idea.

Yes, my apologies, I meant those accepted Early Decision, since ED is binding.

I applied Early Decision and picked the box that said I would only come to Brown if I got PLME. Needless to say, that is definitely a demonstration of lack of interest, and I was deferred.

But somehow, I got accepted to PLME the RD round. I guess I can attribute this to my counselor’s super awesome 2nd recommendation (it was better than his first) and then my super-detailed update letter. Anyway, my app portal said this: “Congratulations! I am delighted to inform you that the Board of Admission has voted to admit you to Brown University’s Class of 2017 and to the Program in Liberal Medical Education of Brown University.”

I feel incredibly lucky. To all future ED applicants: there is hope!

Congrats, Risubu! Welcome to the PLME family.
