oh...and SAT, which i'm really worried about. it's really hard too because i'm an asian and they expect the 800s, which i don't have.

math: 720 writing: 720 (essay 10) cr: 760
i think i will retake...those scores were all on my second sitting

subject tests: chem from sophomore year: 670 =( i didn't take it seriously
i just took math ii, lit, and history today..pretty confident on history and math and think i got killed by lit.

also taking ACTs next week.

please give me your honest opinions, suggestions, and/or thoughts! feel free to ask any questions!

I think your scores so far are just fine; just retake your SAT II chemistry and make sure you get 700; other than that. you Piano ec is truly excellent =0 and imo, you have a chance, just like any other qualified applicant :)

get your sat scores higher, preferably 2250+
and don't wry, i'm an asian female and got a 2280 (800M 750L 730W) and was accepted :)

so u guys think scores seem to be the only drastic issue?
is it ok if i don't retake chem but have 3 other scores in different subjects above 700? i took chem sophomore year and i probably forgot half of it by now

You might enter the NFAA competition in the instrumental category. It is viewed favorably being a finalist.

yah i'm defnitely applying to the NFAA awards...a couple of my friends won this year

You look like you fit the profile. But a ton of other factors come into play that you don't necessarily have control of - legacy, sports, famous people, certain cultural quotas.

Best of luck! You have an awesome chance. Just put a lot of thought into your application...Princeton's lets you do this, which is nice. :)

thanks blakc07! i'll just try my best and pour my heart out on my apps

uve got a great chance.. word of caution, when it comes to courses, make sure ur taking AP courses that actually interest you and not APs that youre taking for the sake of taking more APs. (eg.. psychology, lit) i dont know enough about you, so i apologize if im wrong, but u sound like a math and science person from ur ecs so make sure princeton sees that u do have a genuine interest in other courses such as lit or pyschology, otherwise it seems like ur taking APs for the purposes of college admissions solely. Piano stuff is amazing as are the rest of your stats minus SATs. It doesnt matter what anyone says, SATs do matter and getting that 2250 or perhaps >2300 will definitly push ur application over the limit. Same applies for SAT 2s.

Oh and btw... there's nothing wrong with being a typical asian kid... as long as you're passionate about it

with the sat II's dont worry about taking chem over again if you do well on the three you just took. i got 800,790,760 respectively on my us hist, lit, and math 2 (which is funny cuz thats what you just took) and only a 640 on spanish and i still got in. so as long as you have 3 that are in the 700's, dont worry about the chem.

Get in touch with someone in the music dept [if you want to focus on music] or the orchestra director. Your music background is very strong -- make sure to include several recordings of yourself, esp. if you have any of your guest performances. Recordings, portfolios, etc. really make a difference.

I'm wondering, do you all then draw the consensus that above 700 is a perfectly competitive score? As you probably know, many CC frequenters talk about retaking SATs for which they have over 750. In an equal and fair world (which we all know doesn't exist) and all extraneous matter aside, does having below 750 kill your chances at Princeton (or any other Ivy League for that matter)?

You're great! Try to take some more SAT IIs and boost your Chemistry.

SSRMAGNUM: Her APs are great. Good students don't like everything they learn. If someone doesn't like math, does that mean he or she shouldn't take rigorous math courses?

um...bad news though..
i just got my SAT II scores. not. good. at all.
it was really surprising because i expected well above 750 for both math II and us history. i'm really shocked. well..lit..i guessed on half of the qs so i'm surprised that i got above 600 lol.

math II: 720
lit: 680
us history: 690 (WHAT????)

i mean, i thought i had us history down...and my it turns out to be onli 10 pts higher than lit. agh.

will retake in 0ctober. will this look bad???

Apply to Harvard! They'd love your profile, seriously.

i'm so jealous of ur awesome piano-ness. good luck applying!!!

thanks!

update: i just got my AP scores in the mail yesterday:

calc ab-5
us history-5
psychology-5
physics b-3 (ewww)

oh..and for SAT IIs...they turned out reeeeally bad even though i expected at least 750 on two of the subjects. i will definitely be RETAKING
us history: 690 (how does that correspond to a 5 in APUSH?)
literature: 680
math II: 720

also...ACT came in the mail too. composite: 32
English 31
Math 35
REading 33
Science 29 =(
i think i can do much better so i will retake in september. does anyone have suggestions to raise the science score/????

isn't music and 'love of others' another typical asian? Accompanied with grades and scores of course.

An asian athlete is separation. Especially in: sprints, football, bball, baseball, etc. Not: crew, pistol, tennis, swimming, archery, ping pong, etc.

Proof: I know a fast asian male. 11.0 100m-legit.
3.1 GPA
27 ACT
RECRUITED CORNELL ATHLETE.
