1MX, i could be wrong, but only very few asians play music to international level...and many of those end up applying music schools adn not hyps. scorewise, a lot of other asians can beat me.
oh, and doesn't all really great athletes have really good chances of being recruited by top schools no matter what their race is?
i guess in the end, it's not a matter of race but standing out as an individual.

with those sat IIs-no chance. higher sat IIs (750+) and higher sat (2250+) and you are in a Way better position. Also, 720 for math II is very low-even 800 is only 90 percentile meaning 10% of all math II takers get 800. so yea, test scores up and you're in good shape. I don't want to sound like firefox, so don't take it that way. for science act-don't read the passages, go straight to the questions (i got 36). try it and you'll know what i mean.

niceilike, the method i tried on the act was not reading the passages...i guess i just ran out of time. sometimes when i don't read the passages i have to keep refering back to the passage to get the jist of the experiment.

the main problem is timing. where do they have some good practice tests besides the official ACT book and PR book? thanks

i wouldn't know-the act book was all i used. but i wouldn't bother retaking sat I/ACT-i was recently in princeton's info session and they said they didn't look at ACT science only the sections that correspond to sat. focus on your sat IIs. I'm hearing from some current seniors that they feel the reason they didn't get in to good colleges was sat IIs.

ok..wow i thought colleges put more emphasis on sat I than SAT IIs. but that's a good thing for me then, because I know i can definitely improve my SAT IIs by a lot.

SAT II USH is just impossible imo. I got a 5 on APUSH as well, but I ended up cancelling my score for SAT II USH after I took it because I knew I bombed it badly. It just seems that SAT II is far more detail-based.

i think the reason they value sat iis more is because they're like ap tests in that they test real knowledge, unlike sat, but they are more accurate measures. like you can bomb sat iis and still get a 5 b/c ap exams are curved ridiculously. 800 on an sat ii though shows real proficiency. proof for this: most colleges for international applicants require toefl+sat IIs-no sat I.

Interesting...my daughter scored a 730 in the SATII US history test and a 4 in the AP. She was prepared for the AP not the SAT.
