Those Who Are Accepted: Tell Me Ur Secret

Im an ambition junior looking to apply to ivy leagues.

Do you guys have suggestions, warnings, EC advise for me?
What did you guys do to get in?

Know the difference between a noun and an adjective... ;)

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

grammar nerd... haha, jking. i'm the same way! but i didn't catch it until you said something. lol

How about this? What are you looking for in a college? Then go from there. If it's just "Ivy" then you have a go a little deeper than that shallow reason.

What does it take to get into any top calibre school? Discover those items and you'll be in good stead.

The grammatical error appeared to be quite obvious to me.

:D

In order to get in I listed 30 clubs that I am a member of. I listed Who's Who Awards, Hallway Monitor Awards, Letters of Commendation for being a member of the Foosball Team, etc. My essays were about "climbing mountains," "that I want to be a doctor so I can help people," and "why I am a passionate person."

ehighmark, I thought the photo supplement of your bulldog tattoo was the clincher.

Nobody's giving you a serious answer because there's not much of one to give.. if there were some "secret" or magical formula to get us in, it wouldn't be so damn difficult!

well, come on, you can't possibly really think that someone will tell you the secret... I mean, it's called a secret for a reason. :)

but then they got in already.. now they can tell their secrets

There aren't any "secrets." Its not like all Yale-accepted applicants go to a secret bonfire every week to share centuries-old winning strategies with admissions officers. Honestly, just apply. Then hope for the best.

What aeolia says is true: I regularly attend the bonfires and, let me tell you, it hasn't helped my application one bit (RD). I could have very well told you myself that you should list--as your top EC--the chapter of the Skull and Bones or Scroll and Key that you founded at your school, and that your Yale supp essay should be about why you hate Cronies (because they're phonies, duh). Seriously, those bonfires are wastes of time; I think I'm just going to study for the SAT instead of attend from now on.
