Those Who Didn't File FAFSA?

For those of you, presumably in college, who did not apply for financial aid because you were financially well off and did not believe you could qualify, do you regret your decision?

If you clearly don’t qualify for Federal funds and don’t want an unsubsidized loan, what’s to regret? Some schools ask for FAFSA to be considered for merit aid, if any of yours do, fill it out.

Wow! Is it really that simple? Thanks so much, hmom5!

It’s never too late to file a FAFSA ( if your not asking for a schools financial aid).Oh. Maybe you mean “do you regret not requesting financial aid?”

We don’t regret not filing a FAFSA. We don’t want our kids to have loans for undergrad, we wouldn’t qualify for any aid, and their merit scholarships didn’t require FAFSA.

I applied my first year and got about $600 and didn’t apply my second year. I had a pretty decently high amount of cash and I was still offered at least a little bit. Now I’ve drained most of that from school costs and such and I’m back to FAFSA once again. I wish I would have filed last year. I probably would of got a few thousand.

mom2collegekids, that’s exactly my scenario, and a huge majority of my merit scholarships (mostly local) do not require FAFSA.

smashedpumpkins, by the sound of it, you are in college already right? Does this mean it is possible to apply for FAFSA while you are in college and request financial aid then?

You have to refile FAFSA every year.
