Those who got ELC....

when did you guys get ur letters or anything? and can u post ur stats?

I don't remember when I got my letter, but ELC depends on the strength of your senior class. Posting stats won't do much good since each high school is different.

Just remember, the higher the GPA the better.

i didnt get into elc..:-(

I remember students at my high school receiving ELC letters around September or October.

I think I recall my "D" receiving something late in her junior year or during the summer prior to going into her senior year. Her stats were:
GPA: 4.75 weighted/3.89 unweighted
Sats: 600/630/700
ACT: 29
Rank: 4/475 -- I believe this is why she was admitted. My understanding is that the UC's rank you against the other candidates from your school and not competing schools. The top 5 or 6 students were offered admission to UCLA/CAL, etc.

My D was not offered ELC, but still got accepted to UCLA honors. Don't worry about it. Her stats: 2130 SAT, ACT 30, 4.28 gpa, lots of ecs. Small Christian hs.

The stats on here don't matter because ELC is based on your class rank in your high school.

Many people without ELC get in UCLA, and many people with ELC don't get into UCLA. ELC is a guaranteed acceptance for some UCs (for fall 2006 = UCSB, UCI, UC Merced), but not for UCLA.

shopaholic- check your pm

ELC guarantees a student a spot in the UC system (generally lower tier) and not one of your choice. It's given to students that are the top 4% of their graudating class based on the UC 10-11 GPA.

It's not based on senior courseload. No one gets offered admission to Berkeley/UCLA/UCSD and more down the list solely because of ELC.

What should happen is that the school should ask for consent to send your GPA to UC so that they can assess who qualifies. However, it seems that some schools don't do that.

To my understanding, a student granted ELC status will get a username/password to the application that has some things pre-filled in.

Now, I don't know for sure about the whole procedure since I forgot to submit the consent form. I'm still here... so basically the point is, ELC won't make or break your chances as it only has a marginal effect on the regular admissions process.
