Those who got in through appeals

What should be on our checklist? I was supposedly going to UCR but not anymore since I just got in! I took the AWPE last saturday and two AP tests in the past week. Where do I send those scores now since they were originally going to UCR? Also, I had to take the MAE since I was declared for biomedical engineering but how about now? I would like to enter the field of engineering/business if that helps.

I have to contact UCR and withdraw my SIR before I SIR to UCI correct? I am aware my deposits are not refundable. Is there anything else I need to do to make sure I am going to UCI?

I apologize if my thread is not grammatically/syntactically correct but I'm just very excited right now. For those who are still waiting, there's still hope and good luck!

First off, congrats on getting into UCI! I was in the same boat as you a couple days ago, thinking I would be be attending UCR. The first thing I would do is SIR to UCI through their portal. Then you have to send an email to UCR forfeiting your admission. The details are on their site, somewhere on the My Profile page. If possible, apply for housing to UCI and make sure you complete the checklist on their MyAmissions page, such as completing the SLR and their financial aid requirements. As far as the AWPE and Ap tests go, I’m in the same dilemna as I sent my results to UCR. Im hoping others have better knowledge of this.

For the AP’s at least you’re gonna have to contact the college board and ask them to send the scores to UCI, which’ll cost 15 bucks (which isn’t the end of the world or anything.) 25 if you want it rush delivered, but as they don’t come out till July anyway I don’t see why the rush would be a big deal o:

And congrats on all of you getting in! :)

Thanks for both of your replies. Do you guys know in regards to the AWPE? Even though UCI put me as undeclared I am still going to take the MAE since I want to major in engineering/business.

Congrats on getting in too! I sent in my SIR and SLR but I have no housing options available yet. We should be notified about housing closer towards the school year but since we are in the same boat (switching from UCR to UCI) did you possibly want to split an apartment possibly if we don’t get the option to dorm? I’m just throwing this out there for that possibility and I don’t want to come across as weird but I believe off campus housing is expensive due to the area and I don’t know anyone else going there :/

Hmm thats quite strange that you cannot apply for housing. At first I also did not have the option to apply, but I believe after I SIRed and SLRed the option opened up for me. I even paid the $20 application fee.I dont think housing is guaranteed though. Im also looking into the off campus housing and wouldnt mind rooming with somebody like yourself. Lets stay in contact and see what happens.

On a side note, have you completed the financial aid requirements for UCI? I know I had to submit a few more documents.

Edit: I’m not sure if I read your post correctly. Have you applied for housing? If so, your supposed to get a response in late May.

How do I know that SLR is successfully submitted. There were no email and portal changes regarding that.
Thanks.

i’m in the same boat, got into uci after committing to ucr. I completed my SIR and SLR for UCI and the next step is housing, but its not giving me any options for housing. Is that because they’re out of spots or do i just have to wait?

Sorry if you misunderstood but I meant that there are no housing offers yet as I have paid the $20 deposit. The options are Mesa and Middle Earth but I want Mesa crosses fingers. I am aware that we find out if we get a dorm or not later in the summer. So if we both don’t get it, I’ll contact you through this thread or I’ll just send you a direct message and go on from there if you want. No one else from my school is going there…it’s mainly either UCSD or UCD

Financial aid requirements for UCI? Where did they notify you in regards to those documents needed? I didn’t qualify for FASFA so I never submitted an application for it or for Cal Grant.

@sportsfan1234 Can’t apply for housing or are there no available options right now after depositing the $20? If you can’t apply for housing altogether, you probably JUST submitted your SIR; it takes a day or two (I did mine online) for it to confirm and from there you will be able to submit your housing application. Are you also interested in splitting an apartment if you we are unable to get a dorm? Nothing is final, I just want roommate options and such.

I also submitted my SLR but there was no confirmation and there’s still a button on my account homepage with the button so i’m wondering if anyone has the same issue.

Ok nvm, i got the option to apply for housing, i just had to wait a few minutes.

I’m wondering tho, when i applied for housing at UCR i got the option to select where and my preferences. There was none of this for UCI, am i supposed to wait for options and how long will that take??

I didn’t get a confirmation for the SLR also but if you go back to the homepage and click on the submit slr button and then click continue, it should say that you have successfully completed the slr.

It worked.
Thanks,
Sportsfan1234

I was originally going to take the MAE (Math Advisory Exam) for UCR since I was admitted for a major in biomedical engineer. However, with my appeal at Irvine, I was admitted as undeclared. Even though I am undeclared, I wanted to take the MAE since I am interested in engineering/business but saw no requirements on the website of UCI; only the AWPE exam. Should I still take the MAE?

From what i can tell, the MAE is a test only required for UCR. I dont think Irvine offers it nor requires that it be taken. Im also considering an Engineering field and so im trying to learn more about their required courses and such.

I was accepted after the AWPE test. The website says that if you have a 680+ on SAT reasoning or writing, you don’t have to take the AWPE. I got a 660 on my writing section, but on UCI’s portal, it says “You have satisfied the Entry Language Writing Requirement.”
I got a 700 on writing for a different SAT, but the total is lower. Does UCI just look at the highest section score out of all the SATs you took?

Yes they take the highest section score to determine if you fulfilled the requirement

Send an email to awpe@ucop.edu requesting to have your AWPE scores redirected, and tell them which school to redirect it to. At first you will get an automatic reply from them telling you basic info, but a few days later, someone will send you an individual reply saying they switched the school that the score will be sent to.

I heard some people get rejected from appeal already??

Thanks iop777, I sent them an email a few days ago and they will send my score to UCI instead.

@UChopeful928 If they did, I haven’t heard. I’m the only one in my school who appealed and who is going to Irvine. Are you still waiting?

I am just wondering? One of my friends and I got accepted to UC Irvine.I SIRed to UC Irvine but my friiend SIRed to UC Davis. He is changing his mind and is wondering if theres still room for his late appeal cause he really wants to go to Irvine now? BTw on the UCI db there was someone who sent a late SIR appeal on May 18 but got accepted on the 22nd

Does anyone know when the next AWPE is administered? I was planning on going to community college until my appeal was granted, so I was unable to take the exam.

I’ve read in other threads that the next exam would be in September, or that we will be able to make an appointment at registration? Can anyone clarify when the actual make up date for the exam is? And will it affect our registration process if we take it later?
