Does Mcgill look at weighted or unweighted. Because I called them and they said that they look at unweighted, yet everyone posts their weighted gpa. Also, i have taken the ACT several times. Can I send more than one to show my best scores in each section. Right now I am sitting with a 28, but if I send in two, i will have a composite of 29, 1 point off of a 30. Hopefully i improve in once section from the April Act.

They take your best composite - they don't mix and match.

I just got off the waitlist!! If I can cough up the money, I'll be going to McGill next year. =)

Female/Missouri/White/Private School

GPA: 4.3 weighted
SAT: 800 Critical Reading; 600 Math; 730 Writing
SAT II: 740 History; 670 Spanish
ACT: 30 Composite
AP: 5 US History; 4 English Language

Got into McGill from Ontario
88%

SATs don't matter but I'll post 'em anyways
SAT I CR620M760W720 (2100)
SAT II MIIC800P760C730

...Won't be attending 'cause it's still expensive. They didn't give me money. Oh well it's either UofT, Queen's or Waterloo!

Dude, if you think Mcgill is expensive, wait until you see private schools in the US.

Have any American students been notified that they have cleared the waitlist yet?

If you are US and you haven't cleared the waitlist and you reaslly want to go to McGill-CALL THEM. McGill was my son's first choice-he fell in love with it when we visited Montreal when he was 15.
He was IB with very high grades, SAT and ACT-and he was waitlisted.
Turns out it was a simple matter-McGill only wanted his projected IB exam scores. Once his teachers sent them -he was in.
Call write email McGill-don't be bashful-
Good luck to you.

It's true that they don't look at weighed GPAs, so it's pretty pointless to post them. That and it rarely means the same thing if you're not from the same school.

There seems to be a soft spot for the three NYC specialized schools at McGill just based on the number of people I've seen from these schools (Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Tech, Bronx Science). Though I've heard the same for most of the top east coast schools.

wait...so if i don't send in my AP test scores, will they decide to 'un-accept' me?! i really don't want to declare any of my AP Credits cause i don't want to have to take a harder class/ or miss any science labs (I'm <hopefully> going to faculty of science in the fall).</hopefully>

and seriously... about costs. i was SOOO depressed when i got into northwestern and tufts-- i realized it was gonna be like $47,000+ to go and my dreams were CRUSHED. but i'm still very happy with mcgill. montreal is an amazing city. can't wait to meet everyone in the fall!!

They just need to see that you graduated. APs and etc are just for advanced credit. Which btw is GOOD.

TRUST ME YOU WANT TO SKIP AS MANY CLASSES YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE. It'll be good for your sanity. Especially things that're more of a supplemental to your major (i.e. you're a non-math-related_ major and you did AP Calc - that'll help towards your electives and/or complementary courses)

David is correct.

How does MCgill look at dual enrollment college classes. Are they considered AP or honors? Sorry to thread jack but this seems like a live one. Thanks

wait about the APs-- i heard that (since i'm in faculty of science) that i'll only get credit, but it won't excuse me for my 2 semester calc requirement and that i'll end up just taking a harder calc class to fill my requirement-- is that true? and people told me not to take credit for my bio and chem class cause i'll miss the lab (and i'm hoping to be a bio major) and i'll be totally lost in the upper/more advanced classes...true? or not

AP and IB are complicated-they take both -you can earn a lot of advanced credits this way-you may earn dual if AP and IB were different courses of study.
Your best bet is to contact McGill directly.

The credits and classes you get out of for APs and IB are on the website. audioboxer, the classes you are exempted from for calculus depends on whether you took AB or BC. For BC, you get out of both of the freshman program calc requirements, and for AB you just get out of one.

mamom60,
I'm American and I got off the waitlist yesterday. However, I won't be attending.
