I am in need of assistance so please I'm asking for help with some homework and truly have no other way to get it done. I am conducting a 4 question survey in relation to security practices at your college and wether or not any changes have been made since the recent incident at Viginia Tech had taken place.

If you have time to answer these questions for me I would be very grateful!

A few things I need to know are what college you are from, age and whether your male or female- no names nothing more!

1- Has the security within your college (public or private) changed since the Virginia tech incident?

2- Do you think the changes (if any) are sufficient enough to prevent an incident like this from happening at your institution?
(if no changes just indicate none made or N/A & go to question 3)

3- (If no changes) Do you think the present security methods at your
location are enough to prevent this type of situation from reoccurring?

4- Are there any issues that you feel should be implemented at your location
or in all schools that could help in the prevention on another Virginia Tech incident occurring?

Nope.

N/A

Nope, **** happens. Not everything is preventable. Short of living in a police state, if bad people want to do bad things, they'll find a way.

2) No, since a reverse 911 system has been put in place. MSU police will notify students via their cellular phones if there is a dangerous situation affecting the MSU community. It does not prevent any incidents, just informs the students.

No

N/A

No

What happened at VTech is IMPOSSIBLE to prevent. Any college student at any college can buy a gun and walk into a lecture hall and open fire. It's the truth, and there's nothing that can be done to change it. The same way, anyone can buy a gun and stand on a street corner and open fire into traffic waiting at a red light.

so far I only have dual-credit college classes, but I'll answer for that school anyway!

Purdue University-North Central, female, 18
1) nothing known. although an email was sent out reassuring students that there is a plan for disaster.
2) No.
3) Not at all. Campus does not have good security.
4) I have to agree with dilksy and soccerguy. there really isn't any way of preventing things like that.

1- Has the security within your college (public or private) changed since the Virginia tech incident?

-->no, I think the security was pretty good before

2- Do you think the changes (if any) are sufficient enough to prevent an incident like this from happening at your institution?
(if no changes just indicate none made or N/A & go to question 3)

-n/a

3- (If no changes) Do you think the present security methods at your
location are enough to prevent this type of situation from reoccurring?

-->No, UF's campus is way too big and spread out to prevent such an incident.

4- Are there any issues that you feel should be implemented at your location
or in all schools that could help in the prevention on another Virginia Tech incident occurring?

1- Has the security within your college (public or private) changed since the Virginia tech incident?

no

N/A

3- (If no changes) Do you think the present security methods at your
location are enough to prevent this type of situation from reoccurring?

Not really. It would be impossible to outright "prevent" such an event since, as has been said, anyone could walk in with a weapon and open fire regardless of how well you attempt to supervise or screen students. Overall, however, APU does a good job of screening out students who are likely to commit such crimes.
