You won’t get in to the HC. You need to be in top 5% or close. You likely won’t get any merit money, either. Merit money is hard to get if you’re not in the HC. MSU is pretty good with need-based aid though if you’re low income.

Well taechris I would say that MSU will invite you to their ADS (scholarship) competition. You will have to perform well there to get money from MSU.

As for another Michigan college, if you apply with your stats to Grand Valley State University you will be rewarded Presidential Scholarship and Award for Excellence. The award ranges from $4500-$8500 a year depending on your performance at a scholarship competition.

This student will NOT get an invite to ADS. Even if he/she does, only 15 people get those scholarships. Not good odds at all.

But I believe that approx 1000 students are invited to write for ADS scholarships. At least that was the case when DS was invited to attend. Of course, only a handful receive any money after writing and then receiving their results. The comments from the kids as they left the testing room was quite comical actually.

It’s less than that I believe. AFAIK, the last few years only people in the HC have received invitations.

Lol, I ended up getting into the honors college with a renewable $2,000 offer a year with an offer to get paid lab experience each year… I think that the monetary offer was solely from the college and that it wasn’t even a merit scholarship offer which will come up sometime soon. Anyways, I ended up getting accepted at the CoE at U of M so I’ll be heading over there. I think you people honestly overestimate the caliber of MSU. It’s a great school but it’s not as “great” as you people make it.
