Thoughts and Suggestions and an Early Chance?

<p>Hi guys, I'm currently a 10th grader, and I was wondering if you guys could help me out by looking at what I've done and what I plan on doing.</p>

<p>I hope to go to U Penn as my first choice, then Stanford, Columbia, Harvard, and Berkeley. Fall backs are: UCLA, USC, UCSD, and UW.</p>

Gifted Program </p>

<p>Freshmen Year:
Gifted Trig

APWH</p>

<p>I received a total of 1 B..so, UW: 3.92857 W:4.5 (school grades A's as being from 90-100, so grade inflated -.-)</p>

<p>Sophomore Year: (thus far, and I'm now a IB diploma cand)
Gifted Precalc
IB Chinese 4
Health 1st semester - Gifted Theory of Knowledge (2nd)
Symphonic Band
IB SL Physics
APUSH - IB
IB/AP English 10</p>

<p>UW: 4.0 W: 4.85</p>

<p>2nd semester is essentially all the same except I am taking a Gifted TOK class which is part of IB. So far, not bad.</p>

<p>Junior Year:
IB/AP Calc
Ib/AP 11 English
TOK - then racket sports (fill PE req)
IB Physics HL
IB Bio SL
IB Chinese 5
IB/AP US GOV</p>

<p>If i manage to get all A's and maybe 1 B, should be fine right?</p>

<p>Senior Year: (projected by the principal)
Psych 101 and bio?psych 202 from the local university (a good one) comes to the school
Intro to Comm and Intro to Short Story Writing
IB/AP Calc HL
Ib/Ap Environmental Sciences
Ib/Ap AP Chem
Last two periods will be filled by internships that the school helps arrange</p>

<p>Test Scores:
SAT I. CR: 690 M: 580 W: 590 (this is a mock test that i didn't study for, obviously i will be taking prep classes to boost this)</p>

<p>APWH: 5 on the test</p>

<p>Extra Currics:
Track and XC Freshmen Year
XC Soph Year, I lettered - will do track and xc for the rest of high school. plan to letter from now on.
Band, 5 years (includes marching band where we play in the macy's day parade etc)
Piano, 10 years
National Honor Society
Volunteering at the local hospital
Volunteering at the local science center
Various other services such as food banks etc.
Business Week - Company Leader, 2nd place
Plan on doing an intern program this summer - applying
Intern program hopefully at a college senior summer</p>

<p>i think i need more leadership?</p>

<p>And yeah, I hope to go to U Penn, Columbia, Stanford, Berkeley, and Wash U as my top picks. Backups will be UCLA, UCSD, and others?</p>

<p>Well, without a real test score it’s pretty tough to chance you, but so far you seem to be doing great with your grades. You definitely need to shoot for over 2200 on the SAT to have a shot at Penn, and do well on the SAT II’s, obviously. Some leadership will definitely help you, maybe like XC or track captain, maybe become president of a club. You’re still a sophomore so you still have plenty of time to choose your activities well. Good luck!</p>

<p>^Mhm. With a 2200 you’ll probably get into one of Columbia, Penn, Stanford, and Harvard, but there’s no telling which. If you want to shoot for one specific Ivy (say, Penn) you need to shoot as high as you can. </p>

<p>Friendly advice: typing out your GPA to five decimal places makes you look like a ******.</p>
