thoughts from an incoming UCLA third-year :

;( What will I do with my life?! I'm jaded. I don't know if the Career Center is giving the right advice. Murphy and Campbell suck. My hair and eyes are turning darker shades of black... not because of contacts and hair-dye just because the ashes from my dead heart have no where to go but straight to my head! :(

^wow what a life to look forward to... haha

^^That sounds so depressing...lol

It's called honesty.

And guess what?

I'M NOT A PRE-MED! :o

even worse... haha.

updates:
missed the activities fair this morning :(
went to convocation at 3, heard some speakers at pauley pavilion, showed amazing bruin pride, bbq at wilson plaza with floor, cedar dogwood meeting at 7:30, floor meeting at 8:30, going to get free ice cream and toppings from our floor at 9:30

:)

plans for tomorrow:
buy the rest of my books
check out the buildings my classes are at
check out some jobs for work-study
get the tickets to the football game

bruin pride . . .
is that some sort of band?

Jeydey, would you like to help Chinese orphans?! :D

no i'm just saying everyone was showing their bruin pride. haha.

pink why would you say that?

Come to the China Care Bruins info meeting on 10/8, 6-9 PM @ Moore 100.

Our two focal points are mentoring and fundraising:

We have an affiliation with a parent organization who have families that have adopted children from China. And we hang out with the adopted kids and do stuff with them like campus tours and arts and crafts, we celebrated Chinese New Year with them, we try to get them in touch w/ their heritage bc they're really curious about where they came from. You don't have to be Chinese or speak the language; a lot of them don't bc they're brought up in Caucasian families...

So we meet once a month for like three hours and we form this great bond where you practically become their big sister or brother and get like invited to the dinners and to see school performances and trade gifts at Christmas and all that jazz. Small time commitment - huge return!

And we also hold food sales and we're trying to plan a benefit concert to raise money to send back to the orphanages in China, to fund basic care, medical supplies, surgeries, for example to fix cleft palates to make kids better candidates for adoption...

You can check us out at chinacarebruins.com :) hands you a flyer

when you walk away, regains breath -__-

I did this for three hours today -_____-

hey pink, I was wondering the website says the info meeting is on the 25th. Is it Oct. 8th or Sept. 25th?

that's sounds like a rewarding experience; i'll def check it out

Our webmaster has been out of town and will be returning next week... not cool since people who got the flyers and didn't bother coming to the table were just, yeah, we'll check out the website -__-

Oct 8, Moore 100, 6-9 PM. Uh. It's really not going to take three hours. I told the board members to not introduce themselves bc that's the boring-est part of every info meeting.

more updates:
there's been a lot of activities going on everywhere, each dorm building is doin it's own thing. de neve plaza had a little concert, performances, and was showing pirates of the caribbean. we also had free food/popcorn and caricatures & facepainting...
we've been inviting people from our hall and building to play at our lounge cuz we had GAME NIGHT!! it was mostly people from our floor... we played apples to apples, taboo, mafia, and it was really fun.

OH BY THE WAY!
I MET MR. SPAM!!!! :D he's on the floor above me and since we did the whole CC meet up on the facebook event i knew his name and where he lived... so yeah :) :)

Jayday_Lovely; thanks so much for your updates. My daughter is there, freshman (Sunset Village), and I am ucky if I get a very brief email once in a while. But she says she loves UCLA, is having a blast and is very busy. So I appreciate reading your updates to get an idea of what's happening there. Hope you continue to enjoy yourself and have a great year!
