anyone have some first-hand experience and evaluations of any of the upperclass dorms on campus (rose hill)?
Best/worst, pros/cons of the different living arrangements on campus.....

I’m hoping a current student will chime in, but my S is a senior at RH and has had absolutely amazing dorms over the last three years.
O’Hare - he had a double room (some singles are available) with a private bathroom. The room was not huge, but big enough to fit everything. Rooms have A/C. There is a grill located on the first floor which he used a lot the year he lived there.
Walsh - He had a six person suite with two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. (there are four person suites with one bathroom too). Rooms were pretty big. Kitchen was a bit old, but fine. No A/C in the dorm, but it was only a problem for a few weeks at the start of school. Central location on campus.
Campbell/Salice/Conley - He is in the new dorms this year. You can get a suite with double or single bedrooms. Buildings are only one year old so kitchen/bathrooms are new. A/C. Rooms seem smaller than Walsh but there are nice TV lounges.
Tierney - he never lived there but we saw the dorms when he was an incoming freshman (used to be freshman dorms). I’m guessing it is somewhat less desirable because there are hall (not private) bathrooms, but if you are coming in as a transfer, the hall bathrooms may make it easier to see/meet people. Dorm was redone a few years ago and I believe has A/C. It is right next to O’Hare
Finlay - he had friends live there and like it but I never saw it.
Off campus dorms - An acquaintance of my S transferred to Fordham and got housing off campus in a Fordham owned building. It wasn’t great but after one semester she was able to move to Walsh so it is probably worth taking it if that is all that is offered and then try to move on campus when you can. With this, at least you are in the housing pool and you have a secure building near campus.
Personally, I would think that it is easier to meet new people when you are in double rooms. Once people go into suites they are with a group of friends already so it may be tougher to “break-in”. But in terms of living arrangements, they are all great – if you get housing, grab it.

The only upperclass dorm that i lived in was the arthur house apartments. It is extremely different from my times at matrys and loschert. Obviously it is not on the campus and you need to pay for your internet/television service. There are still RAs but it doesn’t have the traditional dorm experience.

thank you both for your responses!
@Happy1: it sounds like all the on campus dorms are nice, i like the idea of having a private bathroom so Tierney probably is the least attractive dorm to me but I can’t really be choosy…I am just grateful I received housing as a transfer student. I am kinda hoping for Walsh because I like the idea of living in a suite with a bunch of people; I think that could be the best way to meet people since I will be new to the school. Thanks again

anyone else have some thoughts?

transfer200 - I’m glad that you got housing. Take the housing wherever you get it for this semester (even if it is the off campus housing) and go from there. Last year my S lived in Walsh and there were a number of empty spots in the second semester (the dorm is largely juniors and a number of people went abroad for the second semester) so I hope you get the dorm you want. Best of luck at Fordham.

Thank you so much!
