I am a high school senior and have just gotten my acceptance packet from DePaul with a good amount of merit money. I am from Ohio but have a lot of family in Chicago so the city wouldn't be totally foreign for me. I am going in undecided but am leaning towards Communications, English, Business. I used to be 100% sold on DePaul but I am worried because I have heard recently that DePaul is a commuter school for rich Chicago kids and not very academically challenging. I have also heard that the lack of campus takes away from the college experience. I am also applying to Marquette, University of Wisconsin Madison but DePaul used to be my top choice. Any advice from current DePaul students would be very helpful!!!!

I am from the Chicago suburbs. It’s not like that at all…Marquette and Wisconsin aren’t much different lol. All are good schools It’s not just rich and snobby people lol every college has it’s mix of every type of person

DePaul and Marquette are similar - Private/Catholic, urban, mid-sized.

UW-Madison is very different - Public and very large, The UW campus completely dominates that part of Madison essentially making it a college town feel. This setting is very different than DePaul or Marquette where they are more integrated into the city around them.

I would not characterize DePaul as a commuter school. Also I’m not sure where the rich Chicago kid characteristic comes from. I would say this is inaccurate as well.

BTW. I am a DePaul alum and Chicago suburban resident.
