Thoughts on my chance?

I am in the top 20% with a 3.95 and made a 1320 on the SAT. I have played a varsity sport all 4 years and have a lot of service hours for all 4 years of HS. What do you think my chances are and when I would find out? Thanks!

@Hopeful23_Tx I think you have a great chance at full admit. Your SAT is strong and top 20% is good. As for when you find out, could be December round or January. Anything sooner is a bonus! I truly think you’ll get in. Please keep us posted!

@Hopeful23_Tx
My daughter has very similar stats a you.
4,1. 1310. Top 16%
The waiting is awful but I’ve also heard there’s a good chance for her.
Good luck to you!

Nothing is 100% and there is always an exception. So, take with a grain of salt.

Good Luck and Gig 'Em

@texaggie Mays is off by about 1200 students. They only took 1000 - 1100 by the numbers I’ve seen reported. Where do you get these numbers? That’s a lot of grains of salt, lol. Just kidding.

@AggieMomhelp
1100 is admitted or enrolled? Please correct me if I’m reading numbers all wrong. Not a math major.

I didn’t give an exact number because it’s from class of 2021(2017)
May Business School : Applied 4383, Admitted 2104, Enrolled 1187

I’ll have to look around my notes where I have it but yes, class 2021 did have about 100 +/- addition people accept their admissions than they anticipated.

They have a formula in which they know how many offers of admission to make on the whole and how many they will actually field for enrollment.

The freshman class was also larger than anticipated, with 11K students, whereas class 2020 was 9797. Class 2022?was hoping to stay under 10K.

If you like all these numbers & stats, this is pretty interesting-

Then click on the “Interactive Dashboard” box.

This is enrollment taken on the 20th day of class this semester… you’ll have to select what you want to see in all the drop down boxes. Make sure you pick College Station for campus and then go from there. Kinda fun to play around with if you have a little time!

I posted this on another thread. It is based on last year’s acceptance (not enrollment) numbers. I like it because it gives and honest representation of review percentages. Because, according to the admissions folks, the majority of the denials are incomplete or late applications. So they really are eliminated and not reviewed. Realistically - review applicants had a 21% chance of getting full admission. And a 20% chance of Blinn or Gateway. Texas A&M admitted 40.7% of review applicants.

This is from a 2018 slide presented by the office of admissions. Freshman class 22 by the numbers. 41,760 total applicants.
Admits:
26.7% - Top 10% 11,159
11.1% - Academic 4,646
9.9% - Review full 4,115
9.1% - Review Alternative 3,813

27.6% -PSA 11,518
15.6% - Denied 6,509 (when I went with my daughter to a regional TAMU application workshop meeting - they said the majority of the denials were incomplete or late applications)

So I looked at further - to see the distribution of the Holistic Review applicants - I removed the Top 10, Academic, and Denials/incomplete. That left 19,446 of what I would term competitive holistic review applications.

59.2% - PSA
21.1% - Review full
19.6% - Review alternative

@BlueBayouAZ What great information. Thank you. My son is class of 2022 and I was wondering how it stacked up in the end. He was review with full admit.

As a review with full admit - when was he notified of his acceptance? The waiting is killing me :frowning:

@kwaggie my son was the 2nd wave last year, Dec. 15th. Got econ not Mays.

Hi - my son is a review admit(in state) for next Fall. He has a 3.8 and 30 ACT. He has strong ECs and LOR. Over 100 volunteer hours and has worked part time for 2 years. He played baseball all 4 years and played year round on a college showcase team through last year. Unfortunately, he is slotted in second quartile(his college prep doesn’t rank) by TAMU. I’m nervous that will really hinder his chances. Were any of your kids second quartile with full admit or Blinn Team last year? His first choice is Mays and Econ is second. Thank you all!
