Thoughts on my college list? Liberal arts schools with strong theater programs.

The list is on the larger side, but once I visit more schools it will go down significantly.

Bennington College, Clark University, Drew University, Goucher College, Hampshire College, Muhlenberg College(big maybe), NYU(big maybe right now as well), Sarah Lawrence College, Skidmore College, SUNY Fredonia, Vassar College, Wagner College, and Wesleyan University.

I really don't know enough about most of these schools to have fallen in love with any of them. Skidmore, Vassar, Hampshire, Goucher and Bennington are at the top of my list right now. I chose these schools because they are very good liberal arts schools with great theater programs. Let me know what you think, or if you have any opinions on them. Thank you so much. I'm also very political and not too keen on the idea of fraternities. I know some of these schools have fraternities, but are there a lot, how involved are they? If anyone has advice that would be greatly appreciated. I also don't have the highest SAT scores, but I am going to use my ACT score which is higher. A good deal of these schools are SAT optional, just another fact to know about my college search, haha Thank you again.

there are only three real frats at Wesleyan (plus two co’ed “literary societies,” which aren’t really anything like frats) so they’re not a dominate part of campus life at all. there might be more of that type of culture than at, say, Sarah Lawrence, but it’s a big enough school that if that’s not what you’re into, you won’t really be affected by it. I think they’re actually a plus overall because they have good spaces for events like concerts and theme parties–though it’s not the only place for those things.

Good to know, thank you, any thoughts on the other colleges? Frats really aren’t a big deal to me.

I’m looking at a few of those schools too. But i dropped goucher off my list because out of the 4 people I know who go there, 3 transfered after their first year. they all transfered to larger schools, but even as someone who likes small schools all I’ve heard about goucher from them is that everyone is very very hippie and they have parties in the same dorm with the same people every single weekend. the one guy i know who didn’t transfer is like the king of goucher, like actually everybody there knows him which shows how small it is again.

Well I’m applying to Bennington…that’s like 650, haha

Why is Muhlenberg only a maybe? It is very strong in theater.

I just don’t know that much about the school, and I have not gone on a tour. I have heard it is a little more conservative than my list of other schools is. But as of now it is a yes, I am applying.

Bard (NY) might be worth a look too and it is not too far from Vassar. It is also a liberal school that is SAT optional. Best of luck!
