I got accepted into Penn State through their 2+2 program. I am set to do two years at Erie the Behrend College and then two years at University Park the main campus. I haven’t heard too much about Erie other than the information session and from some students. Does anyone have any experience with it? I never got to go because my trip was cancelled with everything that has been going on.
Also is it in the middle of nowhere? Is there things to do in the town? Did you like it?
Why did you choose it compared to others? I also got accepted into Temple and I’m trying to figure out which to attend. Temple seems to have more going on because it’s in a city. It also seems a bit more diverse and as a POC first generation that’s something that interests me. Also I heard great things about Temple’s business program? Any thoughts on that?
Penn State Erie is not really near anything. It’s a beautiful campus with a good business school. That said, if you are transferring to main campus, after 2 years, it’s overall business program is ranked #22 in the nation, which is very good. Some specific programs are top #15. You are correct, Temple will have many more people and more things going on and they have a good business program as well (ranked #79). Temple and Penn State Behrend really can’t be compared. One is a smaller campus and not in the city and the other is a larger city school. One suburban, one urban.
Much like the other person said, there isn’t much in Behrend at all. Penn State Main is a great campus, but all of the branches aren’t really worth mentioning. If you were to do the 2+2 program I’d suggest going to a branch near you and commuting for the first two years.
Behrend is one of the “true” 4-year colleges among the branches (with Harrisburg and Altoona).
Are you instate? (Which area/county/township?)
Which is cheapest?
Would you be a Business premajor?
An advantage of the 2+2 is that a smaller campus is easier to handle + you have smaller classes your first year, therefore more support to make the ETM benchmarks. However, you have to move after 2 years. Many business majors will do the same (for the Smeal UP seal and its famous career fairs) so you won’t be alone, but… if you go to Temple, you’ll be settled in Philadelphia.
