My next year schedule is projected to be:
AP English Lang & Comp
AP Stats
AP Calculus BC
AP Physics B
French 2

And then history. Math is definitely my favorite and best subject, so hopefully calculus and stats won't give me too much trouble (and I've got good books to learn them over the summer so I can spend more time on other things during the year). And physics and English, as I have heard, are fairly easy at my school, although they bring a large work load. My dilemma is this: to take or not take APUSH? The juniors this year with similar schedules + APUSH despise their lives. Some spent twenty hours a week on APUSH homework. Would top-tier colleges see this as not
enough work? Should I spare myself to ensure better understanding in my other courses? I'm only wondering because I want to know if I should pay attention in Honors USH this year :D. Thank you!

AP U.S. History is actually fairly easy in terms of content, but you have to keep in mind that you have to do a TON of outside reading to cover some of the content your textbook misses (i.e. Primary sources) and that creates a heavy homework load. My AP US class easily gets 1-2 hours a night of reading alone. With essays and MC take home tests also a factor, this can go up to 3-4 hours on a nightly baisis; an amount that not anyone can put into their schedule without some stress.

First off, I reccomend that you take AP US within your high school career as everything about the class is as close as you will get to a college level course at a high school; the workload, the essay writting ability, and the extremly in-depth material. When to take it is a matter of what other classes you are taking unless the class is a prerequisite for another AP. Ask around to see how much homework the other APs you are considering (including senior year APs) give out. If you want to accomidate the workload, take it when your classes won’t be giving you as much homework. To get the full effect of the workload of the class, take it when you are buisier.
