Smoking is stupid; that's all there is to it. Its health risks are known better now than ever before, and you are damaging your body by doing it.

If you're a smoker trying to quit, that's great. If you are someone who's never smoked and don't plan to, that's also great. If you are a smoker without any plans of quitting, that is just stupid.

I'm still not sure why people continue to smoke. Coughing, being short of breath, heart and lung problems, odor, and yellow teeth are not "cool".

As for marijuana, most of its short term effects are not at all serious, but long term marijuana use has been shown to cause permanent damage to memory, recall and cognition, as well as respiratory problems and addiction. Marijuana smoke has more carcinogens than cigarette smoke, though it hasn't been shown that it causes more cancer than cigarette smoke.

IMO, smoking, like almost everything else in this world, is perfectly fine in moderation. Should you smoke everyday, even if it's only a few cigarettes? I don't think so. Is smoking with friends every now and then okay? I can't possibly see why not. Your not going to get severe lung problems by smoking a few cigarettes every now and then in social instances.

I've never smoked cigarettes before, but I smoked hookah in Europe and I thought it was really fun. I only did it maybe once or twice every other weekend with friends, and it really wasn't that big of a deal.

My dad died from lung cancer when I was 14 and I made a vow to never smoke. I don't even want to be around someone that smokes, much less even date him. I don't care how great he is, it's not going to happen.

Look at it this way: Smoking is an expensive habit. More people probably dislike smokers (whether it be sharing a room with them or dating them, etc.) than like them. It will be much easier and cheaper to not smoke.

Say what you will, but to make a moral judgment on an individual that chooses to smoke solely due to the act of smoking is ridiculous. The amount of toxins emitted from one smoldering cigarette out of doors where it can be dispersed rapidly into the skies above, pales in comparison to the junk that comes from one exhaust pipe from a car sitting at a red light. I don't see people making moral judgments on drivers, who selfishly choose to but their "need" of getting from point A to point B ahead of your health.

Life's too short to regret anything. If you want to smoke, go ahead. Yes, it's unhealthy, but moderation is the key to life, and that's why you can see French models eating buttery pastries and still staying thin.

As far as I know, eating one meal high in fat isn't going to kill you nor would eating one every once in a while. Smoking is the same way. Potential drawbacks? Yeah, but if it makes you happy to do it once in a while, then go ahead.

I smoke cigs when I'm drunk because it increases your buzz real well and feels cool, but when I'm sober I can't stand the taste or the smell of them so I don't.

I've smoked pot occasionally for about a year or so. I think I'm going to stop though because lately I've been getting really ****ing paranoid and thinking about random ass stuff. I used to not mind because it only happened while I was high, but now I cant stop thinking about it even when I'm sober. It has just changed the way I think a lot, so I think I am done for a while/forever.

hamburgler2- actually smokers lower cost of health care. Yes they have a lot of health problems but in general they die sooner, so overall they end up costing less

That's not true chuck19... I remember doing some research on it before and although I don't have the numbers on me right now, it definitely ends up costing the healthcare system more, due to the myriad health problems they have before they die.

smoking costs alot guess doesnt matter if you're rich....according to statistics...larger percentage of people who smoke get cancer at a l8ter stage....if you're thinking Oh u could get killed in an accident and trying to live a healthy life was useless....but it also affects the quality of you're life. and smoking causes yellow teeth, if you're rich u can get whitening...and bad breath...but alotta people smoke my bro smokes pot now and then....hes still smart as hell...but its not good to hurt your health

It just amazes me that so many young people smoke today, even with all we know about its extreme effects. I can understand an adult who has been addicted to cigarettes for years smoking, but for someone to start smoking today is incredible. Second-hand smoke alone is so incredibly harmful. All you have to do is walk by someone who is smoking, and it affects you. You smell like smoke the rest of the day, you start coughing, etc. I don't care if people smoke in private, of course, that's their choice, but I really think that public smoking is a major issue, especially on college campuses.

Personally, I'm not a fan of smokers (to put it lightly)... Isn't it just my luck that I got stuck with a roommate who smokes (my dorm room smells like cigarettes all the time-it's suffocating!) I think smoking is a disgusting habit, but to each his own, I suppose.

Life is too full of dangers to give up a great social experience in exchange for a chance at being lung cancer free. And by social experience I mean pot, hookah, or cigars, not the predominately solo cigarette.

before I starting smoking (cigs) I was think, WHY smoke. Then it turned into a why not. The way I see it, I am not going to smoke after college so smoke up!
