Test scores aren’t everything (just ask the ivy league schools). Regardless, I applied to SU with a 2200 SAT, probably higher than 80% of the scores that Mizzou receives. But this topic isn’t about me.

Eau contraire

You’re gonna need to do better than that…

I’m sorry, but the numbers seem to indicate that you are over-estimating the academic preparation of the Syracuse student body.

There are many factors that go into the various ranking methodologies. A lot of them do not reflect the academic experience of most of the students, and most certainly not the larger student experience. One of the factors is freshman retention and graduation rate. It is too late to go into detail about why that is a weak point for many public institutions, but that number has little to do with what will be available for any given student, especially the strongest ones.

The OP has chosen a top journalism school on a lively, fun campus in a great college town. He made a good choice.

Hope you are enjoying UNC, cuse.

Judging by the offset of this thread, titled “Thoughts on the University of Missouri?” and seeing that we somehow are on Page 5 … you’d think we sure had a lot of thoughts on Mizzou, wouldn’t you?

There is no doubt that the OP chose a great journalism school. My claim is simply that Syracuse is a better school than Mizzou overal when journalism is removed from the discussion. Most people would agree with my assessment.

And yes, I am enjoying UNC. This has probably been one of the best years to be a Tar Heel that you could imagine. Meineke Bowl, sweeping Duke, and the NCAA national championship=great times

Meineke Bowl?

Nevermind, we’ll drop it…lol. Yeah hard to complain if you’re a UNC guy. :)

Haha hey don’t hate on the Meineke Bowl, it was actually pretty entertaining. Hard not to enjoy a sellout bowl game that ended with a final score of 31-30!

I feel bad for the team that lost 31-30 in the Meineke Bowl. Sounds like pulling an OU…

Believe me, I felt bad too. It was a great game though, Nicks had two circus catches for touchdowns that shut the WVa fans down for a while!

OU is another story, I was hoping that they would stomp Florida. Should have been UT vs UF in my opinion though, but there’s not much that you can do about that. :)

Mizzou is beautiful. I think a lot of students would appreciate the beautiful campus, especially if they are in the very very good journalism program.

The matchup was correct. It is OU’s destiny to fail utterly in the end.

We will probably see another 3-way tie, and I predict this time UT goes.

Congratulations on your decision, goalmachine15. And thanks to midmo for all the useful information.

Thank you, geezermom. BTW, today’s front page states that there will be no tuition increase at any MU campus next year, with level funding from the state. A decent compromise, especially compared with many other public institutions.

First off, congrats! And I do agree with Cuz. I would say the best journalism schools (undergrad) are: NYU, USC, Northwestern, Mizzou, Syracuse, UGA, UF, Indiana University - Bloomington, University of Maryland, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Ball State University, Flagler College, Ohio University, Ithaca College, Penn State, U of Texas, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Arizona State University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Minnesota, University of Oklahoma, Northeastern, Boston U, Boston College and UMich- Ann Arbor. :)

That is a lot of schools.

I’m going to Ithaca College for journalism next year, but I was originally going to go to MU. I fell in love with the school and the program, but IC gave me better aid. Hope you enjoy your time at Mizzou! It is definitely one of the best.

I considered Ithaca for a while, but I decided it wasn’t really the program I was looking for. Seems like the people that go there love it though. Good luck!

Thank you!!
