Thoughts on Weekend Prep Courses?

Hi all,

I'd like to take an LSAT class to prepare for the Septmeber LSAT, however unfortunately I'm overseas until about two weeks before, making traditional courses impossible. With this in mind, I was wondering if anyone had thoughts about the intensive weekend classes offered by some of the companies. Has anyone taken one? Which one? Do you think it helped?

I have a pretty good grasp of LSAT basics (I'm scoring around 170 give or take a point on practice tests), so I'm really looking for a company that specializes in refining and enhancing skills rather than building them. Are there any companies known for catering to "top-scoring" LSAT students?

I'm especially interested in hearing thoughts on PowerScore and Get Prepped, as these are the two courses I'll probably choose between if I decide to take a weekend course.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

If you’re already performing so well, don’t bother with a weekend course. It really won’t make much of a difference to you, especially if you’ve been working with, say, PowerScore’s materials. The weekend courses only cover the basics and are designed primarily for students with little to no prior exposure to the test. Trust me, I know. I’ve taught the course.

You’re better off hiring a tutor if you’re having trouble squeezing out those last few points. Pricey, but ultimately worth it if you can make real improvements.

I’d agree with CC, but I’d say to start by trying books and such. If those don’t work, then consider a tutor.
