Whether one can finish all courses in two years or one can complete two majors is not the question. Yes it is absolutely doable. Most of these programs are structured to be 3+4 so I am not sure if that can be altered. Most of these kids are very bright so if they can apply out then that will lead to a lot of attrition in the program.
Also, the report might be including some of the tougher/not-fully-bs-md programs such as USF (and others) where only fraction of students make it to MD part.
Yes, One can with the consent of an academic advisor while meeting all the requirements of PMM and probably another major (likely Biology). Please go through the list of courses for both PMM and BS(biology). One has to work on it. The degree may not be with a PMM major.
Here is BS(Biology)

Yes, I know a few kids including my niece who has finished the UG requirements under 3 years but they are not awarded their degree until they attend the first year at SKMC.
This may be because the first years MD courses are used to meet certain electives requirements for UG degree. This is the case with 3+4 BSMD program at Temple University. The first year MD courses are used to meet biology elective requirements for UG degree at Temple. Here is Temple 3+4 BSMD academic program( very similar to PMM, a biochemistry course should be added)

Yes exactly. This may be done by design to lock the students into the program.
Yes, One can work around this by taking the needed electives during 3 years and getting a different degree (not with a PMM major) while meeting all PMM requirements in 3 years. IMO, BS(biology) requirements may closely meet PMM major requirements. One may need to consult an academic advisor to do so.
Oh yes I see what you mean. That should be possible but will they keep the medical seat if one applies out?
You should ask that question to your niece. She may know the answer.
I know two kids and one took 8 years and another 9 years (due to health issue) to get into residency from HS graduation, both went to India.
I probably will but she is going to med school this fall so she may not know
Remember the base of BS/MD student is small.
Higher percentage may just be a mathematically effect.
Looks like more birds flew away My guess is lot of them went to BSMD due to parental pressure (helicopter/tiger parenting) and rest have same academic issues like traditional path.
that was negated by famous LizzyM on the other site, data is over multiple years and for all programs combined just not for strong programs like BU.
Yep kiddo got the FAU reject too. I totally made him apply there since he is graduating from a Florida HS but a lot of the party kids from our school system/his high school go there so he was dead set against it (I hoped maybe getting an invite would move that no to a consideration. Oh well. )
So here is where we are at:
Drexel- Interview in March
GW- Interviewed Feb 2021
Brown- Notified on Ivy Day?
URochester- Interview end of Feb
Others:
Pitt, Penn, FAU, NJMS, BU, Case, Temple- Rejected pre interview
VCU- offered interview and declined to accept
Hofstra- sent supplement/no interview invitation as of yet
Will review that.
Did anyone from the 1st interview batch get accepted to FAU?
Wishing batches 2 + 3 have a better outcome.
Isn’t that pool from smartest kids of high schools?
It is not a math effect when 1 drop from 20 count as 5%, because they are talking attrition once you are in medical school and god knows how many before entering into medical school. Even best case scenario, assume every BA/MD admitted kid matriculated to medical school that number is alarming. And this is not surveyed data, rather data reported in AAMC SRS (Students Record System).
MD/PhD have similar number of seats, yet attrition is drastically low.
I think they notify after 2 weeks, right? Did you already get one?
Nope, they have already sent out notifications from the 1st batch of interviews as seen in today’s post by several people.
