Thread for BSMD 2020-2021 Applicants (Part 1)

@melslemonade - Rutgers Honors College–New Brunswick and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School 4+4 Program is by invitation only - without need to take MCAT. This is in addition to the NJMS program where students can apply to…

See more details on https://honorscollege.rutgers.edu/admissions/special-programs/4plus4-program

This program is an EAP.
Only after getting admitted to Rutgers, you will can invited to apply.

Totally agree with @Vicky2019

BUSMED is the top BS MD program now and is a top choice. Getting Aid and cost is individual priority and can vary. Although read past post and some one did not join BU SMED because of cost. Curious how much it will cost now to them ?

My point for the above post is that All T20 undergrad are not cheap either unless you get scholarship … which is hard with ORM EFC’s

This is for “In-state Presidential scholars” i.e. NJ residents only. IIRC, OP is not a NJ resident as per previous posts by OP ( probably an AZ resident). A regular route MD may be an option for a RWJ medical school’s seat for a non-resident.

For medical school admissions, the UG schools ranking is almost meaning less, what matters is UG GPA and MCAT score during initial screening. A T10-20 UG or a state university UG, both will prepare you for MCAT and medical school. It may even damage your chances for a medical school admission if your GPA suffers at a Top 10-20 UG.

Technically, not an EAP. It is a BSMD program by invitation only ( amongst in-state Presidential scholars).

@mygrad2021
If you are a NMF, you should get a scholarship(~25k) (but verify with BU to be sure by calling them) for BU UG if admitted. But not all BU SMEDs will get a presidential or any other merit scholarship.
If you get admitted to BU SMED, you would be admitted to BU UG by default.
One can determine most likely by mid-to-end of Feb whether one has been rejected for an interview by BU SMED. But this year according to an earlier post in this thread, it is said that one can not request a regular BU UG admission consideration after being rejected for an interview by BU SMED.

thanks

daughter received njit acceptance- now we wait correct?

Two more questions-

  1. does Oklahoma program only like national merit?
  2. can one apply to SBU/GW and GW/GW

thanks

@doctorpenguin
For NJIT/NJMS, next step is an interview invitation ( at NJIT level only) for those selected by NJIT.

so if one makes it that far in the process, they have to interview for both the school and the medical school? Or is this just true for NJMS?

Thank you all!

@doctorpenguin, I think after you interview with NJIT, they shortlist the applications that they want to send to NJMS. Then it’s NJMS decision for the next interview for medical school.

@doctorpenguin

OU: No. National Merit has no consideration to BS/MD program selection. There are few students in each year who are not NMS. Remember OU on the average has 5-6 students only per year.

OU gives importance to UG admission and gives aid for NMS. Another unique thing their NMF is for 5 years as long you do your masters continuously after UG.
