Hey everyone. Is it possible to apply to be a moderator of a single thread? I’ve been haunting the thread for the Northwestern HPME program for about a year or so now, answering questions and stuff (I’m in the program). I guess it would be nice if I could remove topics that are off subject and just prune the thread in general (it’s several hundred posts long now). Thanks!
Thanks for your contributions to the board. I see that you have been very helpful on the Nothwestern forum.
We don’t have single thread moderators. Most mods come on board after an extensive history of helpful posts and appropriate posting, and eventually have “powers” over all fora.
If there are off-topic posts on a thread on which you are participating, you can use the “Report Problem Post” option to request a move or removal of that post, or pruning of the thread.
Another option is to use the Report Problem Post option to request that a new “Part” of a thread that has gotten too long be started. This has been done on the Musical Theater forum as well as on the Lafayette College forum, which has a student who is very active on the forum and alerts the mods when something needs to be addressed. We can close the initial thread, designate it as Part I, and make a Part II new thread, etc.
It is best that you use the “Report” function to alert the mods, since that way the report is accessible to all members of the mod team. Mods are volunteers and work at their convenience, so writing to a particular mod may not always get a quick response.
I hope these suggestions help. Again, thanks for your very helpful contributions.
