A lot of this is regional.
And anyway, if people pronounced words exactly how they were meant to be/spelled, we would sound like robots. Accents add spice to life.
Of course, if you mean actual mispronunciations, that’s different.

People in my English class always say Socrates as so-crat-ez. It’s very annoying -_-

I agree with Hannah though! Accents make us not sound like weird robot machines ;D

…instead of sah-cruh-tez?

Okay so people around here have pretty thick southern accents.

I have a part in a play where I say “we’re” and I can’t. I pronounce it “were” (wur)

Also saying the word “boiled” A lot of us say is “bawled” lol. Its like I know what it is supposed to sound like, but I can’t

The word is mispronunciation.

In New England, “Teresa parked the car in the yard” comes out, “Tereser pocked the cah in the yod.” Drives me nuts, lol. And they tease me about my Texas accent!

Oooooooohhhh!!! Voberaptor, it’s ok, man. I didn’t even notice.

Well related to mispronunciation, when I hear a conversation and throughout it they use terrible grammar. I mentally send them death rays and correct them in my head which just annoys me more.

Hates when people use horrible grammar. Spells grammar wrong.

^^ OOPS! I’m sorry, I’m on my phone.

I’m on my phone, too, and I have mistakes left and right :P

In Vir-gin-yuh, I live in a ruhral arear, so it`s full of rednecks who tallllk like this…
-Whut?
-Prolly (Probably)
-yall (Most popular word in the redneck language)
-"How yall dointuhday?" (Most popular phrase in the redneck language)
-doan (dont)
Yes, I am not from where I currently live...Im from northern Virginia, but the accent is slowly starting to rub off on me....I dont mind it too much because it`s not annoying, like the serious redneck accents.

Rule #1 of living in VA:
-There are redneck accents (like described above)
-There are country accents
-There are the foreigners who have Northeastern, Midwestern, etc accents.

^^Live in Texas, we say those words too! But that’s not considered Redneck! Redneck is when everything is slurred together and at the end of the conversation you’re like, “What?” :)

^^ This.

People live near the like. (lake)
They celebrate birfdays.
I seen 'em do it.
If you lived here, you might could see 'em too.

It’s killing me.

Wait, “ya’ll” is just common language lol. I didn’t even think to put it on here !

@Kaeroze…yes, it is redneck, TRUST me…you haven
t heard them speak in VA…there
s hug difference…I just wrote out the specific words…you have no idea how it sounds…Texas accents somehow sound different from Virginian accents. And when people dress like rednecks, then the accent sounds 10x worse.

@AlexHarper…like I said, when they say it in VA, it
s different than when someone from NY says is… but since you
re from NC, you understand.

I’m from Noo Yawk, Noo Yawk. Enough said.

Nope, from SC. Ya’ll is common usage and not reserved for rednecks.

No, I know it
s common language, it
s said practically everywhere, even in the Northeast, I suppose…but in rural VA…well…it`s different. Too hard to explain over the internet…but, it just sounds different then when someone from TX, SC, FL, WA, or wherever says it.
