<p>That’s awesome. Congratulations Ashes. I must confess I did not think your ACT was sufficiently high, but Michigan is becoming more holistic and will consider essays, recs and ECs more heavily than in the past…plus you do have a good GPA. You will have a great time (and education) at Michigan.</p>
<p>Alexandre: I have been reading so many acceptance stats and it has become very evident that acceptances are based a such a variety of factors other than test scores. as well it should be. Michigan is definately about bringing together an intelligent group of students that add to the great diversity of the university not kids that are just “book smart”.
If I were to give advice to next years applicants especially those with good overall stats and border ACT/SAT scores: APPLY EARLY!!! When my s visited campus twice the admissions folks repeated that the early bird will receive the payoff early and she was right. If U MI is your #1, then get that app in by or before Oct. 15th. My son heard back in less than 3 weeks time and the pressure was off. He is OOS too.</p>
