threatening to revoke

hi,
i was admitted 2 thursdays ago. after a happy weekend, cmu sent me a letter threatening to revoke my admission because of my poor calc grades. they want an improvement... but how much of an improvement? they want to see my 3rd and 4th mp grades. i know it's my fault - i didn't do well first and 2nd quarter [c-,d] and i'm getting a C for the third. i will attempt to get a B or above for the 4th.... but i need to know to enroll by may 1st. i think i'll send them a mid-4th progress report...but what do you think about this? will they kick me out? also, the rest of my grades have been decent [a's/b's] except another possible c in spanish now.... what do i do?

thanks.

Probably the best idea is to call them and find out what is expected of you, so you can judge whether or not it is possible. It is within their right to revoke your admission if your grades have dropped alot since you sent them your transcript.

If you can explain the grade drop with extenuating circumstances, they might be lenient. If there's no reason for them to believe it's not just you being lazy in your last semester now that you've gotten into college, then yes, there is a real possibility they'll rescind their offer. If you get any Cs you're in unsafe territory unless there's a very good reason for the Cs.

Call them and ask them what they're expecting of you. Also, talk to your calc teacher about your problem. This part always sucks, becuase if you've just been slacking off, they know it and won't be too friendly with you. However, most teachers aren't evil, and will usually set up some sort of bargain with you (ie A on the final=B in the course, or weighting later tests higher than earlier ones...just don't ask for extra credit..it's juvenile) to let you do well enough to go to your college of choice....worked for me!
