does anyone know if we have to read this book???...last year's incoming freshmen didnt have a book to read

Every year there is a suggested read for honors students. There is discussion, etc. regarding the book.

but this isnt just for honors, it's for everyone...and they hand it out at orientation to everyone

well good, because my daughter is getting withdrawel from having no schoolwork to do over the summer

Yeah, ebeeeee, it is usually just honors. This year the honors program picked the book and the whole school is reading it. It's written by two authors and the entire school is meeting with one of them, whereas the honors program (during welcome week) is meeting with the other author also.

are we discussing this in english class though? I'm not in honors but since we all have english class i'm wondering will this be part of our class curriculum. I never knew we had to read this until now when i just noticed the book and did some research on it i see its part of the welcome week curriculum and i'm scared this is going to give me a bad first impression in english class.

I would say you don't need to read it for English..Engineers don't take College Writing until second semester so they wouldn't discuss it for another semester.
