Three good state schools - which to choose?

UConn is a big Thursday night party school because lots of students do leave campus on Friday.
People mention sports but don’t forget that lots of UConn BB games are played in Hartford not in Storrs on the campus. It isn’t easy for students to get game tickets anymore. Sports is big but students may end up watching on TV in groups, etc. and not in person.

Maryland is 24% out of state, with heavy representation from the New York metropolitan area. (Who really wants to go to a SUNY school or Rutgers?)

College Park is a dump, no question about it. But the University of Maryland campus is lovely, and Washington, DC is within easy reach. Nevertheless, College Park is a real turn-off for some prospective students and probably Maryland’s biggest drawback.

Transportation in and out of the University of Maryland is quite good. There’s a bus for students to the Metro station (about a mile off campus), and the Metro takes you to both Union Station (DC’s train station) and Reagan National Airport. At break times, and maybe at other times too, there are also buses to New York directly from the campus.
