Three quick interview questions!

I have to questions regarding interviews:

First of all, I’m an international, and I was wondering which language you have to speak
with your interviewer, if you’re granted an interviewer and he/she happens to be from your
country as well. Not that speaking in english would be a problem, its just that I don’t know
how to address them, because it would be kind of awkward/fake to speak in English if
you’re both more fluent in your native language.

When do you have to contact interviewers? Before you apply or after? Because I heard
some people already do their interviews in the spring of junior year (because I heard
some interviewers visit certain areas during summer, but they don’t know Im interested
in applying of course!)

Is it possible to schedule interviews in, say, the united states if you’re not a resident?
Because I might be going to NYC during the summer and certainly in the fall. How flexible
is the admissions office with this (especially since I’m only staying for a week, both times!)

Thanks!

It's best to speak in English because American colleges want to know about applicants' fluency in that language. My college, Harvard, asks alum interviewers to include info about applicants' fluency in English.

Check colleges' web sites for their guidelines about interviews. Colleges differ widely in their policies. If you have further questions about individual colleges' policies, e-mail their admissions office. Don't rely on responses from well-meaning, but possibly uninformed strangers.

Oke! Thank you! I think I've read some of your posts before! You're an interviewer for Harvard right? Amazing! By far my top choice (how incredibly original)! I'll be visiting Harvard next fall (when I go to New York with school, we're going to Harvard as well (and attend the famous Sandel-lecture!), I really can't wait! Sorry, really random and off-topic.
