Threshold for Athletic recruit?

How far down can admissions go for a top recruited athlete in a non revenue sport?

are you talking non-varsity. like club sports - non NCAA regulated?

if so - none… they drop it little for football - compared to other schools like Umich or USC, auburn, LSU etc - so dont expect it to get dropped for a non-varsity sport. sorry

Sorry, mean varsity sport just not one the school gets revenue from like football.

well the school gets revenue from every varsity sport through sponsorship by adidas, nike, puma… etc. and with television coverage. unfortunately though football is their top sport so they do bend admissions for those players the most - but all of their athletes, or nearly all are able to keep the minimum standards so that they can stay in the school. that is why nd has gained pressure from alumni with a dismal football program b/c we don’t get the players that LSU, Auburn, Umich, or USC get… so i really wouldn’t expect a big drop - what are your stats and what sport are you being recruited for?

Know athlete in nonrevenue sport with approx 1360/1600 SAT was recommended to retake and try to get closer to 1400/1600 to improve admissions chances at ND. Don’t know what ended up hapenning on retake. Assume football standards are looser than that. I’d think that the higher you are in the talent pool for your sport, the more wiggle room there might be. If you are ND’s #1 recruit for the sport, there might be more flexibility than the last recruit on coach’s list. Just guessing on that point.

That isn’t too much help! 1400 out of 1600 SAT? Isn’t that similar to 31/32 ACT? Know many have higher @ ND but thought top athlete would get more help than that…was that for a top pick? Most ND students are varsity athletes too but not recruited athletes…

donesoon, Was just sharing info to help you. Of course each individual situation is different. This was for a recruited athlete at ND in a non-revenue sport who was offerred a partial a couple years ago. Probably not #1 on the list that year. I’m sure things are very different if you are the #1 recruit on the coach’s list. I assume coach knows athlete’s academic stats and has indicated whether admission will be just a formality or whether it will be difficult. Wishing the best!

thanks minivan & all…I just seems painfully difficult to get into college these days especially one like ND! wish’n & hope’n & pray’n…
