I was wondering if I should throw out my old papers and tests from classes that I've already completed. I'm keeping the textbooks since they may be useful someday but I don't see any use in keeping old notes and papers. Should I keep my papers/tests or throw them out?

Keep (or sell) the books, chuck the notes. I’ve referred a couple times back to previous classes, but it’s not worth the clutter if you have the books.

If you’re keen, you can keep the notes for your intended major–until you switch majors, that is.

I just keep all old papers just incase I need them for any reason at all. I shove them all in a cabinet or something.

It depends… If you’re a math/science major, keep your calc notes – you’ll need them for physics. If you took a psych intro course this semester, and you’re taking a 200 level psych course next semester, keep your psych notes, etc… It’s a lot easier to reflect on old notes than have to look up all the info again, ESPECIALLY if you’re going to have the same professor for a 2nd course!

Keep them just in case. I didn’t go back to my notes often, but I have referred to some on occasion.

I’ve kept all mine… The couple times I did want to refer back to them, I couldn’t even find what I was looking for. I’ve found this geometry portfolio and my psych vocab folder from high school to be two useful resources, though.

I keep mine for a semester and then throw them out. :)
