Throwing out questions? How does that work? How do you know? Does it happen often?

Oh my, why does every thread have to turn into that ball question?

because its 10!! (i hope :P )

I hope to God they throw out that "ball" math question... I put 10, but I definitely can see valid arguments for both answers due to, in my opinion, ambiguities in the question.

And I think it said different colors as well... I think most people just assumed that meant different designs...

Then I can say that there were valid arguments for this one about a circle inscribed in a square (pi/4). It had a length of 2 for a side (didn't say anywhere that if it was the whole side and did not tell in the writing. Just had a 2 by it). I took it to be HALF the length of the square. The area would then be pi. I percieved it wrong way. They wouldn't throw it out. Probably wouldn't do the ball one either..

if they throw out a question, they should throw out that writing question with 65 and/or older because that question could go either D or E and both would be right no questions asked.

honestly...I don't think the ball question should be thrown out. The wording simply tricked too many people.

In the beginning of the question it said, "In the picture above, Color 1 and Color 2 represent two DISTINCT COLORS in the design."

Then later it said, "How many DIFFERENT DESIGNS are possible."

So yes...it did say different designs, but those designs don't include balls where Color 1 and Color 2 are the same. Hence, the answer is 20.

Sorry that you guys misread, but I spent a lot of time on that problem making sure I had it right.

Please look at this link. It talks about the section which would not be scored for Oct 14 th test.

nevergiveup, that's not what this thread is about...

Any thoughts on throwing out questions in the CR sections, instead of that ball question?
