thursday early move in

so i know that some of you guys decided to move in early on thursday last year. i backed out because i was scared they would charge me for it. did anyone actually have to pay the $75? please and thanks (:

I don’t see anywhere that says it’ll charge $75. Can you point that out to me? Anyways, I selected to move in on Thursday, but I’m going to be a move-in assistant, thus my move-in is now the 14th. That Thursday move-in decision is pointless for me now. Hope I don’t get charged.

14th? so you’re moving in on a tuesday? o0

ANdrizzle…he’s a move in assisstant, he’s suppose to move in earlier.
im moving in on thursday and there’s no cost…but idk if u can still change ur move in day…until some day they say stop or soemthing.

i work for housing and our managers and supervisors told us the only thing the sign up time was for is a parking spot, you can check in whenever after thursday, but if its not during your scheduled move in time you have to find parking on your own, we will not refuse checkin to anyone nor charge you, but idk about the whole parking thing, when i moved in last year, you could park whenever and wherever you wanted

i already have my move-in time for thursday. i was just wondering if there was a charge. so i guess i’ll stick with it.

I moved in Thursday last year and didn’t get charged.

I called housing because I’m moving in Thursday and they told me that there is no charge so you’re good to go :)

Haha good to hear. Anyways, the latest date to change move-in (according to website) was the 3rd.

i have it on my calendar as the 8th though…

On the Housing Move-In Reservation System, I get “You may choose a new move-in time up to September 3, 2010 5:00 pm PST” on the “receipt” page @__@

wait, so does that mean free early move-in, AND free meals for you and your family? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Yeah, I was wondering how the meal thing works. When are the swipes/BruinCard activated?

I think FREE meals for you and your family starts on Friday and goes to Sunday lunch. I don’t think it covers Thursday. At least this is wat happened last year, and here’s the page from last year: [UCLA True Bruin Welcome 2009](http://map.ais.ucla.edu/go/1000503)
Specifically, it says:

So similar thing will happen this year, Friday to Sunday (lunch) will be free for you and your family. Then your meal plans/swipes will be activated and begin on Sunday night.

But thursday’s listed there as well?

the last date to change move-in time is the 8th. they posted it as a status on fb today.

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/UCLAHousingServices?v=wall&ref=ts

thursday is listed on there, but if it’s anything like last year, you would have to pay at the dinning hall to eat (or just go out to westwood and eat). One of my friends did that when he moved in early last year.
Free meals start Friday morning till Sunday lunch. It’s been this pattern for the past few years. Exceptions are if you’re an Move-In Assistant, in which u get free meals for the additional 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) you’re there. Then meal plans start Sunday dinner.

Awesome!

So this is semi-off topic, but I figure it can’t hurt to ask. My move-in time is currently Friday morning from 8-9 AM. Does this mean that the parking permit is only valid in between those times? Does anyone even go around checking? Because I’m a bit nervous about traffic and I’m not so sure I’ll even get to UCLA by that time… Maybe I should just change to a later move-in time?
