I could not even figure out how to sign up for it.

For whoever actually signed up, how did you do it, and how did you know how to do it?

thanks.

I registered for the family weekend on this website. I never saw where to register for the “Thursday Trojan Family Weekend Parent Reception”.

That is my question.

I saw it. It was there.

I must have messed up.

Parents,
There are all sorts of activities for parents. All do not need a reservation. Here is a phone number where you can obtain information about events, tailgates and any special programs/receptions that involve your student’s school or major: 213-821 6239
Alumni and friends of SC hope you enjoy your visit.

We went last year and I don’t remember if we went to the reception (was that the lunch?) We had a blast and there were a TON of activities on campus to choose from that didn’t require us to register in advance. So eat, drink and be merry - but don’t let this minor glitch cause you to think it’s not worth the trip anyway. It certainly is worth it!

^ so so agree. There’s a lot of great things going on that you can just show up to (obviously it’s easier if you learn about them in advance). For a first time parent, doing all the official Family Weekend activities is really exciting and memorable, but it’s still worth it go even if events are full. Many parents that come for several years find they have just as great of a time not doing the promoting activities and instead making up their own itinerary.

We never attended any formal “reception” that required tickets or reservations in the two years we went for Parents’ Weekend. We did buy and enjoy the football game both years, attended several tours and several classes. Viterbi and the Cinematic Arts were lovely to tour and those were our kids schools. I’m sure you’ll have a great time. There are a ton of activities–I’m sure you’ll have a great time!

Will be attending our first Parents Weekend this year. Purchased only football tickets and Thursday parking pass–can park all day and thru end of game. Assumed that was a good strategy. Will play rest of the day be ear.

Don’t sweat missing the reception. It’s basically a big garden party with 3,000 of your closest friends. kinda fun, but not a big downer to miss it. You can walk by it and get the same feel. We experienced parents weekend when our D was a freshman. All new and exciting. She’s a sr. this year, and we’re going for the weekend, but didn’t sign up for anything, nor register for the weekend at all. Just bought low priced FB tix thru the athletic dept. And will do dinners with daughter and friends and chill out. Make of it what you wish.
