Everyone has been posting in regards to the buildings party scenes, but im wondering about the rooms themselves. Do both have one bathroom per room? (even in a room with 6? not two bathrooms?) What about space? Does furniture differ at all? How about kitchens? Do they differ at all? etc. etc.

None of them have kitchens in the rooms, if I recall correctly.

@ Thurston: 2s,3s and 4s all have 1 bathroom. 4s seem awful to me form the pictures I’ve seen. Go for 3s. From what I heard they give the most room per person. 6s, im not really sure but someone said it’s more like a suite.

@ Potomac: it’s all doubles or doubles with adjoining bathrooms to your next door neighbors. So you could be sharing a bathroom with 1-3 people.

thank you! which would you suggest? also, does living in potomac a downfall because of the lack of party scene/connections? do people have more friends/party experiences after living in thurston or is it really the same amount minus the noisy nights?

Someone else already asked about dorms in this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/george-washington-university/1273309-dorm-profiling.html

Thurston only has kitchens in the House Proctor’s room I believe. I’m not really sure if triples are spacious, but definitely avoid quads. 2s and 6s are the best; they’re relatively bigger. Though with 6s, you’d have to share a br with 5 other people. You’ll get to check Thurston out during orientation week.

As I said in the other thread, Potomac is actually the best of both worlds and is sought after by a lot of people. However, a lot of ED kids get the first choice when picking dorms, and so a lot of Potomac rooms would be taken lol. Check out the other thread for more info.

I live in Thurston now and it’s really not too bad. I live in a quad and it’s MASSIVE. Like we have 3 closets (2 walk-ins), a big room, smaller room, a bathroom plus we have space for a couch and tv area. But I also know people in quads who just have the one big room, two walk-ins, and a bathroom, so they have a lot less space. But that’s the thing about Thurston, it’s all in the luck of the draw. Overall, it’s not a bad place to live though (despite the crazy reputation that you might hear about haha)

Furniture doesn’t differ much in them, but they’re not all set up the same like I said, like for some reason I have this huge built-in shelf by my bed…I don’t really know why, but it’s useful.

I have a lot of friends in Potomac, and it’s pretty much like everyone described: a double with a suite bathroom which you’ll share with another double. Potomac’s pretty nice and “better-kept” than I guess you would call Thurston lol

Oh and as for friends/parties, you’ll be able to do both in either dorm. Of course, there are more parties in Thurston because there are a TON more people, but you can go make friends and have fun in either. And suprisingly I haven’t had too many issues with tons of noise, Potomac is more quiet in general, but my neighbors aren’t too crazy so the “noisy nights” aren’t too big of a deal for me.

^ Haha what floor? My friend lived at the 5th floor i think? She moved out cuz some people played the guitar at like 3 in the morning.

Haha yeah it really depends on who you live next to, and I live on the third floor.
